All aluminium has been degreased and acid-cleaned and left bare. The sump was repainted in black engine enamel. The cast iron block is in silver engine enamel. The cam cover has had unnecessary lugs, casting marks and an outlet removed before being etch-primed and coated in black wrinkle-finish paint. The TOYOTA casting was picked-out by rubbing-back to bare aluminium.

Invicta's classic sports car, with low radiator, underslung rear frame, hypoid final drive and at least 115bhp, more on the later cars. Top speed in standard form 95mph, official figures state 77 built, but this could be as low as 50.

This car raced in three races at the Silverstone Meeting, the VSCC Regularity Trial for pre-war Sports Cars, the Silverstone Trophy Race for Special Pre-War Sports Cars and the Short Scratch race for pre-war Sports Cars

The Volkswagen New Beetle is a compact car, introduced by Volkswagen in 1997, drawing heavy inspiration from the exterior design of the original Beetle. Unlike the original Beetle, the New Beetle has its engine in the front, driving the front wheels, with luggage storage in the rear.

At the 1994 North American International Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled the Concept One, a "retro"-themed concept car with a resemblance to the original Volkswagen Beetle. Designed by J Mays and Freeman Thomas at the company's California design studio. the concept car was based on the platform of the Volkswagen Polo. A red cabriolet concept was featured at the Geneva Motor Show, also in 1994.

Strong public reaction to the Concept One convinced the company that it should develop a production version which was launched as the New Beetle in 1997 for the 1998 model-year, based on the Golf IV's larger PQ34 platform. The New Beetle is related to the original only in name and appearance (including the absence of a car emblem script with the exception of the VW logo). For the 1998 model year, only the TDI compression-ignition engine was turbocharged; the spark-ignition engines were only naturally aspirated. In June 1999, Volkswagen introduced the 1.8T, which was the first turbocharged spark-ignition engine offered for the New Beetle. Volkswagen created a web site dedicated specifically to the 1.8T. A convertible was added for the 2003 model-year to replace the Volkswagen Cabrio. However, the New Beetle Convertible was never offered with a compression-ignition engine in North America. The third-generation Beetle Convertible, the successor to the New Beetle Convertible, was offered with the TDI compression-ignition engine in the USA but not in Canada, though, making it possibly the only diesel convertible car offered in North America.

The New Beetle carries many design similarities with the original VW Beetle: separate fenders, vestigial running boards, sloping headlamps, and large round taillights, as well as a high rounded roofline.

Got up the other day and realized it's time to rip apart the voyager and find out why it smokes.

It's the rings! :,-(

HOW TO FIX PISTON RINGS:

Step 1.

Rip the engine apart.

Note: While performing step one, be sure to remember where all the stuff goes so you can put it all back.

Step 2.

Sit down, have a beer and admire the nice mess you have made in your yard.

In true Wisconsin fashion, we stashed beer in the Animas River on the trip into the Mtns, so when we came out we would have something to drink while waiting for the train. Here, the Knutson family is enjoying, appropriately, Steam Engine Lager from the Steamworks Brewery in Durango, while we wait for the steam engine pulling the D&SNG passenger train from Silverton to Durango.

Seems like a waste of a cold beer to me, but if it works what do I know?

The GT3, named after the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) GT class it was designed to compete in, has a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, based on the unit used in the Porsche 962 and Porsche 911 GT1 race cars.

This engine was later detuned and used to power the air-conditioning compressor for a commercial bus.

Prints I'll be showing at an exhibition at the Resolution Gallery in Johannesburg, opening on July 10th 2008. They're made using software created in Processing that allows gestural manipulation of photographic images - resulting in these rather densely textured prints.

Charging towards Chicago under the cover of darkness, one of the two P42's developed some engine problems while traversing the Rockies. As a result, a third locomotive had to be added in Denver. Whilst leaving the station, the newly added locomotive put on an incredible smokeshow.

The 4-door hardtop model was produced from June, 1991 to May, 1995. It was available with a variety of V-6 engines from 2.0 to 3.0 L in displacement. A 2.8 L inline 6 diesel was also produced.

An old amateur photograph of a 'shed bash' to the East Greenwich Gas Works engine/loco shed in Mar 1951. The gas works had an extensive internal steam/diesel rail network, bringing in coal via a 'coaling pier' on the river, sending out coke and chemicals, as well as many internal rail movements. The network consisted of two narrow gauge and one standard gauge railway, from 1900 it was joined via a spur to the Angerstein railway.

There is another photo taken at the gas works here.
