You may want to click the All Sizes button and look at a larger version of this image to see what's going on. At the fire expo, they let the kids ride around a building twice in the fire engines. Jared got to sit up front where the controls for the sirens, lights and horn are. Look carefully and you'll see the firefighter waving and shouting at Jared to knock it off, as Jared is stretching out his foot to hold down the horn. For the entire ride. That's my boy.

The Loue valley is located thirty kilometers from Besançon. It is a Former industrial region, to serve the city of Ornans and the high valley of the villages, PLM built in 1885 a branch on the line Besançon near the Swiss border via Morteau. The Hospital Station Grosbois had then an important position.
However, the decline in traffic in 1920 forced to close the PLM line of the Loue valley to passenger trains in 1932 and then to goods trains between Ornans and Lods in 1956. Finally, in 1988, the Ornans line was closed and the route filed in 1991.
The construction of this modelrailway layout began in 1989. Much research (maps, photographs, postcards, bordering testimonies, etc.) helped to restore the atmosphere of the small towns and villages in the early twentieth century. The modular network currently measures more than 25 meters and mainly includes the stations of Ornans, Montgesoye, Vuillafans and Lods.
Lods, at the foot of the gorge Nouailles, is the terminus of the railway station. A locomotives shed and swing bridge allowed to return the steam engines. A Ornans, besides the passenger building, the covered dock and the pagoda, one can admire the neighborhood of the Rue des Swifts crossed by the railway viaduct or the Courbet walk.
Singha beer is the local brew in Bangkok, and this being Thai Airways, that's what they served on board. I had a window seat, and after a while of being plastered against the wall by an Arabic passenger who was about one and a half seats wide and who kept showing off his knowledge about the night life areas in Bangkok, where he was heading (I was pitying the poor Thai whore who'd have to take his weight!) he headed off to another row of seats in the empty front half of the aircraft. I celebrated my freedom and additional breathing space by cracking open a Singha, and enjoying the sunset over the Middle East from out of the window. (Bangkok, Thailand, Oct. 2008)
Train station in Wakefield, Canada. Apparently it only takes 4 humans to manually pivot this steam locomotive (one of Canada’s last remaining). This amazing demonstration is all part of a tourism package that includes return fare from Gatineau to Wakefield and on-board musicians and tour guide. You can find more details here :
If you view the highest resolution version of this photo you can spot at least 12 photographers in the crowd! You may think that is a large number, however most photographers were on my side of the big circle!
Note: the engineer is getting a free ride, he should get out and help those poor guys.

I passed this breakdown truck and it had an engine on it. I love those pipes twining round each other.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Contractor Ty Lyttle from Advanced Integrated Technology adjusts the support straps for the installation of the second twin engine and companion generator aboard the Corps’ Derek boat and dredge Elizabeth. The Elizabeth patrols federal navigable waterways of Hampton Roads, performing a wide variety of maritime missions, among them the removal of surface and underwater obstructions that would impede navigation. The new Iveco engines exceed the Tier 2 marine diesel EPA mandate, which significantly reduces the amount of oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter, both which contribute to serious public health problems as well as pollution to the environment, said Steve Baum, Norfolk District's project manager for the project.
