Levant Mine & Beam Engine is a former tin and copper mine, established 1820, closed 1930 situated in Trewellard, Pendeen, near St Just, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, and a National Trust property. Today a visitor centre and a working steam-powered beam engine can be visited.
The mine reached a depth of about 600 metres. It got the nickname mine under the sea, because tunnels were driven up to 2.5 km from the cliffs under the sea.
managed to rescue this disaster slightly. Disaster? Had cut off the engine number. Two photos blended.
Lacking any kind of engine stand (do they make motorcycle engine stands?) I maneuvered the engine onto a hand truck to get outside.
The beautifully cast and machined aluminum cylinder block from a Porsche 944. This will be the basis of my car's new engine. It is an M44/08 casting from 1988, and will put out about 200 horsepower when rebuilt and installed in my car.
They appear to be engine exhaust trails partly initialed by decompression at the tail tips but that is an illusion.

The Largest Mechanical Puppet ever constructed in Britain
Built to mark the 10th anniversary of The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, the Man Engine celebrates Cornish Miners by taking their story on a tour of Britain. An international tour is being planned for 2019 to take the Man Engine to wherever Cornish Miners went.
I tried to get a shot while he was on the ladder, but every time, he would be behind a post, and after I moved to get a clear view, he would be down the ladder already. Oh well, can't win them all.
The flight of this rocket can be seen here, here and here (by Dr. Claw's Keeper).
Shortly after ignition, one of the engines had a major failure that blew a big chunk out of the the fin can, as seen here. This in turn caused some flight instability as well as aerodynamic drag. The rocket only made it to about a third of its expected altitude, but it gave a really cool smoke trail.
