This exhibition features work by twelve CCA Architecture students in a fall 2017 advanced architecture studio led by Matt Hutchinson and Adam Marcus. The work explores the architectural detail as a locus for reconsidering contemporary domesticity in the context of new technologies of design, fabrication, and assembly.
Sometimes you have to wait for the right set of materials to come together to finish off a piece. Voila! Here's one bracelet that has taken me longer than usual to assemble. Taking the cue from one of my favorite web suppliers, I mixed carnelian beads with warm toned freshwater pearls in white and peach to create this DIVA BRACELET. The beads are strung using an antique brass wire chain and combination antique brass and gold plated findings. The base is therefore muted, allowing the glowing pearls to "float" above the metal components.
Carnelian flat oval beads in two sizes in varying shades of orange to beige alternate between clusters of pearls for effect, topped off by a carnelian puffed heart attached to the toggle clasp.
This is a generous bunch of over 50 pearls ranging from flat-sided potato and rice pearls. The pearls measure around 10mm tall on average. There are 5 each of the 15mmx10mm 10mmx8mm flat oval carnelian beads which are approximately 5mm at its thickest, and the puff heart measures approximately 15mmx15mm and is around 9mm at its thickest portion at the center.
The bracelet is approximately 8 inches from end to end of the toggle clasp, closing at approximately 7 1/2 inches when the toggle locks. The dangling pearls give a gentle jangling sound as the pearls brush against one another. I can extend the bracelet by adding additional links on either end if requested.

I've been doing some bread board prototyping for a microcontroller
based battery desulfator unit. At this point I am heating up a

Because a lot of my sculptural work comes under the umbrella of assemblage I tend to collect large quantities of found objects and materials - always being drawn the things and forms that have a certain resonance, but not always knowing what I will eventually use them in.
In this drawing I have taken a few of these items and, without trying to concern myself too much over matters of how the individual forms relate to each other, I've attempted to morph them all together. This proved to be more easily said than done, as a life time of drawing, awareness of perspective and of trying to accurately create the illusion of 3D forms in a 2D plain can hard wire the brain to following certain rules. None the less I'm quite happy with how it turned out - there are some interesting connections going on. A friend recently said that there was a lot of sexual imagery in the piece. I'm not sure if that says something about him or me.
Anyway - this work has just gone on display in Vamalgam 4, the Victoria and Albert Museum's new staff show. This year's exhibition is the biggest of the four shows, with some of the best work yet. The work ranges from painting, to photography, to drawing, to mixed media and showcases the diverse creative abilities of the people who make up the V and A Museum.
