Jean Dominique Antony Metzinger (June 24, 1883 – November 3, 1956) was a major 20th-century French painter, theorist, writer, critic and poet, who along with Albert Gleizes, developed the theoretical foundations of Cubism.[1][2][3][4] His earliest works, from 1900 to 1904, were influenced by the Neo-impressionism of Georges Seurat and Henri-Edmond Cross. Between 1904 and 1907 Metzinger worked in the Divisionist and Fauvist styles with a strong Cézannian component, leading to some of the first proto-Cubist works.

From 1908 Metzinger experimented with the faceting of form, a style that would soon become known as Cubism. His early involvement in Cubism saw him both as an influential artist and principal theorist of the movement. The idea of moving around an object in order to see it from different view-points is treated, for the first time, in Metzinger's Note sur la Peinture, published in 1910.[5] Before the emergence of Cubism, painters worked from the limiting factor of a single view-point. Metzinger, for the first time, in Note sur la peinture, enunciated the interest in representing objects as remembered from successive and subjective experiences within the context of both space and time. Jean Metzinger and Albert Gleizes wrote the first major treatise on Cubism in 1912, entitled Du "Cubisme". Metzinger was a founding member of the Section d'Or group of artists.

The Trefbox, a significant component of the Trefcenter Venlo retail complex, has undergone a major and much-needed reconstruction and modernization effort. The renovation was deemed essential as the existing building, which originally housed the Maxis hypermarket and later the Trefbox, was considered "extremely dated." The comprehensive transformation was initiated by the new owners, Mitiska REIM and Everglow Real Estate, who acquired the center from Highbrook Investors. Their plan aimed to revitalize the decades-old structure into a modern and sustainable convenience retail hub to serve the local, regional, and cross-border consumer market, given its proximity to the German border.

The reconstruction involves extensive work on both the exterior and interior, fundamentally changing the center's look and layout. Key elements include renovating the façades, roof, and the internal layout. Although the building's original 1970s construction remained intact, nearly everything inside has been renewed. The project also aimed to increase the Gross Leasable Area (GLA) by 250 square meters and optimize the tenant mix, which initially comprised 13 retail units, including an Albert Heijn XL supermarket, C&A, Xenos, and Kruidvat. New tenants like Action and vanHaren have been added to the roster, with HEMA also opening a new store.

The renovation was implemented in a phased approach to minimize disruption where possible, with the Trefbox closing its doors entirely in April 2025 to allow for the large-scale work to begin. The first major milestone was the reopening of the Albert Heijn XL supermarket in June 2025, which marked the completion of the initial phase and provided shoppers with an early taste of the renewed shopping experience. The second phase, involving the remaining stores, was scheduled for completion after the summer of 2025, with final store fit-outs and re-openings continuing into the fourth quarter.

A major focus of the project is sustainability, with the developers targeting a "Very Good" BREEAM certification for the renovated property. Environmental measures include the installation of solar panels across the roof area and the use of LED lighting throughout the entire center. Furthermore, the owners are introducing green leases with tenants, promoting sustainable operations within the retail units. The revitalization is set to transform the outdated Trefbox into a future-ready retail destination, significantly enhancing its functionality, aesthetics, and environmental performance within the broader 70,000 square meter Trefcenter retail area.

Taken with the Nimslo 3D camera which I previously used in week 173 of my 52 film cameras in 52 weeks project:

52cameras.blogspot.com/

Trichrome photography involves taking three exposures of the same subject on black and white film. Each exposure is taken through a red, green or blue filter. These photos are then combined to produce a colour image. Three separate exposures could be taken with the same camera mounted on a tripod, though this would only be possible for static subjects, a purpose made camera with three lenses allows the 3 exposures to be made simultaneously.

One of the early users of the process, over a hundred years ago, was Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky , he used projectors with coloured filters to make a combined image, nowadays it can be done with photo editing software such as Photoshop.

For these trichromes, I used a four lens Nimslo camera, originally marketed for making lenticular stereo prints. I taped red, green, blue and yellow filters in front of the lens, and shot on expired Fuji Neopan black and white negative film. The frames taken through the yellow filter were not used in the trichrome process.

The red, green and blue components are seen below the main image.

"Electrocefa" magnetic electronic project kit.

See red-cyan anaglyph version.

Cross-view stereo photo. To view, cross your eyes until you see four images. Then slowly relax until the two middle images snap into one. Your right eye should point towards the left image, and your left eye towards the right image. See one of the Stereo/3D pools for more info.

What's it good for:

This is like a Magnetix set, but the connecting rods are electronic components, so it's very easy to set up circuits and try changes. I remember when I was a kid, I had one of those Radio Shack "150-in-1" kits where you would connect wires to springs and the resulting mess of wires didn't exactly stimulate you to experiment by changing things!

You can also mix-and-match with normal Magnetix pieces (they don't conduct from one end to the other) to create... ermmm... embedded systems ;-)

It's a pitty there are so few components, though. And as far as I can tell, they don't sell expansion kits (yet!).

InMoov Right Hand/Arm components laid out for a photo. Feels good to see them like this but, so much work still. I was very fortunate that hairygael's design is very good and since good - easy to print. My machines were really printing well and I do not use a raft so --- The process was to see hairygael's COOL design, load it to my PC, process and print. The pick up the parts, admire them, nit-pick a few tiny stray strands of plastic as you get ready to screw it together. EASY!
