Even castings like this are far more preferable to some of the recent overtly generic horrors HTI have inflicted on to the British diecast buying public! This is a good old fashioned unlicensed model where styling has been deliberately altered as not to be caught out by the vehicle manufacturer which in this case is Mercedes-Benz. This rather ungainly saloon car is heavily based on an older generation C-Class and yet oddly it has been given a real life Jackson Township police livery! Part of a five vehicle set bought from Tesco back in December 2016. Mint and boxed.
The Norfolk and Western Class J 611 is the pinnacle of steam locomotive technology in the world in many ways. Built at the end of the era of steam power there were 14 Class J's produced from 1941 through 1950. The 611, as with all Class J locomotives, was produced in the Norfolk and Western shops in Roanoke, Virginia. The shops there turned out a 500,000 pound monster, producing over 5,000 horsepower at the drawbar. This represents a greater tractive effort than any locomotive before or since. The Class J rides on a massive single piece cast steel frame underpinning the entire locomotive. With the close tolerances, rigidity, and space for a massive fire box this frame allowed the top speed was limited "by the nerves of the engineer". On a controlled test track pulling 1,050 tons the Class J recorded a top speed of 111mph, with about 100mph being common in actual use. 611 began her service hauling passenger trains in May of 1950, and was retired from regular service in October, 1959. Today she is regularly on display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, but as seen here crossing the Radian River does come out to pull the occasional excursion train.

Music class blouse in red lawn. Swingset skirt sz 5+ in stretch poplin lined with quilting cotton.I added length and a touch of width to the sz 5 skirt. I used three rows of elastic at the waist and a faux tie. Both are still a little big which is good since I hope they fit until next May.
A sad line-up of Class 76 ELs quietly awaiting their fate at Guide Bridge on 18 July 1981: the Woodhead line was closed just two days later. Notice the lower-quadrant home and distant signal in the background - a curious survivor indeed!
British Rail Class 43 High Speed Train (HST) Diesel Power Car 43336 as operated by Cross Country Trains heads northbound at Chesterfield Station on the Midland Main Line in Derbyshire (UK).
Introduced into service from 1976 as Class 253 on the Western Region and 1978 for the Class 254 on the Eastern Region, the HST's were initially marketed as the InterCity 125.
The High Speed Train power cars are the fastest diesel locomotives in regular service in the world and in my opinion are British Rail's finest achievement.

British Rail Class 156 'Super Sprinter' 2 car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 156422 during boarding at Norwich station for the over subscribed (as usual) 2S14 10:45 Albellio Greater Anglia service train to Cromer and Sheringham on August 29th 2014.
I have to say these refurbished Super Sprinter units are a considerably nicer and more comfortable place to be than the nigh on 40 year old TSO (tourist standard open) ex British Rail Mk3a carriages on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street trains with their uncomfortable seats and fixed armrests. Only the lack of air conditioning is a small minus.. which of course means open windows and more noise.

Class reunions are the perfect excuse to plan a trip to Madrid to catch up with your classmates, visit IE, and enjoy the city. This year, class reunions were celebrated around the Alumni Forum in May so that attendees have the opportunity to participate in both and enjoy Madrid´s wonderful spring weather.
We were very happy to welcome the following classes to Madrid:
15 year reunion: MBA and IMBA 2001
10 year reunion: IMBA 2006
5 year reunion: IMBA 2011
