Class 153 units 153968/153361 call at Liverpool South Parkway working 1B08 Chester-Liverpool Lime Street on Monday 15 August 2022.
The Class 153s were created by rebuilding 2-car Class 155 units as single cars - this work was done in 1991/1992 by Hunslet-Barclay in Kilmarnock. The unit nearest the camera here is 153968, which (I think) is one of the vehicles modified to comply with the Equality Act for Transport for Wales, and usually operated on the Central Wales line.
Detailed right down to its heated rear window, high-level brake light and alloy wheels, this 1/72 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is an amazing little model. Made by Hongwell and purchased around 2005. Mint and boxed.

L B was the son of R J who had succeeded William Stroudley as Locomotive Superintendent/Engineer of the LBSCR.
His initials stood for Lawson Butzkopfski (no, me neither - maybe it was his mother's maiden name).
