Relatively new(ish) British Rail Class 755 3 car diesel electric Bi-Mode Multiple Unit (BMU) 755327 working the 2D82 14:17 (14:30 RT) Ipswich - Lowestoft Greater Anglia service train at Woodbridge Station in the County of Suffolk (UK).
755327 was built for Greater Anglia by Stadler Rail at their facility in Bussnang Switzerland as one of the Stadler 'FLIRT' (Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train) modular family of trainsets.
The Class 755 bi-mode units should not be confused with the very similar looking Stadler Rail 'FLIRT' Class 745 Electric (only) Multiple Units which were introduced by Greater Anglia in 2020.
Note the Dellner type coupling system in the big ugly hole at the front of the train. The Dellner coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact. Also note the power pack vehicle located between the first and second coach.

Preserved English Electric Type 1 'Chopper' Class 20 Bo-Bo diesel locomotive 20205 at Thuxton Station on the Mid Norfolk Railway in Norfolk (UK).
20205 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows as British Railways Type 1 D8305 in 1967 and withdrawn from service on December 18th 1989.
The English Electric Type 1 Class 20 locomotives were first introduced onto British Railways in 1957.
20205 was guest locomotive at the MNR courtesy of Michael Owen and the Class 20 Locomotive Society.
A pair of class 379s, with 379028 leading, at Cambridge South working 1153 Cambridge North to Audley End on 15 January 2022.
GWR Class 158 No.158745 passes Hawkeridge Junction,with the 11:06 Swindon to Westbury service,on the 19th of April 2022.
British Rail Class 377 'Electrostar'' 750v DC 3rd rail EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) 377420 as operated by Southern (Railway) stabled and awaiting forthcoming weekday duties in the sidings just outside Eastbourne station in East Sussex (UK).

The Class 45 became the main replacement to steam in the 1960's, especially in the Midlands. The were powerful and fast. They did have reliability issues. Even so, the noise these make do send any Diesel Head into a frenzy. This one was working at East Lancashire Railway this Bank Holiday weekend.

Class 50 50005 (CD) stands outside the works. It was later transferrred to the WR and during 1978 named Collingwood.
Just sticking its nose out and hardly visible is Class 37 37191, unusual here at this time

Heaton Lodge Junction, Mirfield
Having just passed Class 37 37100 on a tanker train, Class 45 45104The Royal Warwickshire Fusilier takes the Huddersfield line at Heaton Lodge Junction, Mirfield.
Originally D59, this is an engine I saw many times over the years - at York, Toton, Mirfield, Holbeck, Raventhorpe and once at Elland, nr Halifax. Withdrawn April 1988.
This section is now single track for east-bound only. Today (2018) the Class 45 would have gone straight ahead (where the Class 37 is located) and branched left to Huddersfield soon after. This avoided trains having to cross the east-bound Calder Valley mainline

My artistic objective for this photo was to produce a high-contrast monochrome image in which the main smoke blast is as dark as the locomotive's front end. For this I needed to reduce the smoke's brightness before turning up the contrast on the whole image. Additionally, some of the smoke has been left unaltered to keep a pleasing realistic plume.

Preserved British Rail Class 205 'Thumper' 2 car Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) 205205 in Network SouthEast livery at Ongar Station on the heritage Epping Ongar Railway (EOR) in the County of Essex (UK).
205205 entered service as British Railways 2H 60110/60810 in September 1957 and withdrawn from traffic by Connex South Eastern on July 23rd 2004.

It stands in the museum building Ribble Steam Railway in Preston.
Not far from here where the picture was taken.It is a building where In the 50s Deltic was created.
The building still exists and functions, but without the construction of trains.

Class 47 47804 pulls away from Wickford with the 1Z24 0737 Southend Victoria to Poole "Cathedrals Express" Rail Tour.
This train was running 12 minutes late as the driver did not appear to be happy with something around one of the buffers at the front of the locomotive during a scheduled stop at the station.
This train arrived at Poole approximately 24 minutes later than planned at 15:10 rather than the scheduled 14:46.
This was the White Rose railtour that went from Axminster to York via Manchester Picadilly and the Woodhead line. 46012 took us to Crewe where 47214 replaced the 46. At Manchester the two 76s took us forward to Tinsley where 40093 took us forward to York and back to Sheffield.From there 47045 pulled the tour forward to Derby and the final leg was given over to 45071 arriving back in Exeter at 0113. A grand day out gromit.

The uber bright LED lights are so bloody annoying >_<
For a mere £25 (single) you can relax in comfort for the 15 minutes it takes to get between Heathrow and Paddington! Handy if you want to travel to the Paddington area - but as this station is poorly sited for the rest of London its likely you will have to pay more to continue your journey on some other form of transport.
This is the very smart interior of standard class.
These trains are already going for scrap! Their replacements look more austere. But I doubt if the fare will come down....

58 year old English Electric Type 3 Class 37 Co-Co diesel locomotive 37716 as operated by Direct Rail Services
on a Norwich- Willesden Brent light engine movement at speed southbound at Hatfield Peverel Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the County of Essex (UK).
37716 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows and entered service for British Railways as D6794 on February 27th 1963.
