BREL/ABB (York) & Metro-Cammell (Birmingham) Class 465/0 "Networker" 750v dc 3rd rail 4-car emu No.465 034 of Southeastern at Brixton on a Victoria - Orpington service, 12/07.
31428 passes Beeston (Notts) with the 07.55 Sheffield to Ipswich on Friday 6th May 1988. A local landmark for many years the Beeston Boiler factory had recently been demolished.
This is a standard Farish class 20 renumbered and weathered to produce a unique model for the layout.
Class 321 'dusty bin' 4 car Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) 321338 heads south into Hatfield Peverel Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in Essex (UK) with a London Liverpool Street bound National Express East Anglia service train.
Note the 'Great Eastern' decal on the front of the train and train dispatch paraphernalia on the left.

English Electric Type 3 Class 37 Co-Co diesel locomotive 37407 in British Rail 'large logo' livery as operated by Direct Rail Services ready to work a Abellio Greater Anglia Norwich- Great Yarmouth drags short set at Norwich Station at the end of the Great Eastern Main Line in Norfolk (UK).
An extremely rare example of a classic first generation diesel locomotive hauled service train.
37407 was built at The English Electric Vulcan Foundry in Newton le Willows and entered service as British Railways Type 3 D6605 on October 10th 1965.

East Midland Train's Class 158 158866 (57866 + 52866) was still in basic Alpha Line colours but with EMT branding when pictured on the 10-53 to Norwich on Platform 2 at Chesterfield on June 6th 2009.
Class 156 'Super Sprinter' 2 car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 156479 as operated by Northern Rail entering Darlington North Road Station in County Durham (UK) with a Bishop Auckland to Saltburn service train.
Darlington North Road Station is on the route of the world's first steam locomotive railway, the Stockton and Darlington Railway which dates from 1825 although nowadays the railway is either called the Tees Valley Line or Bishop Line which runs from Bishop Auckland to Darlington, Middlesbrough and Saltburn.
PKP Class Ol49 2-6-2 No.Ol49-69 with earlier type smoke deflectors dumped at Leszno Depot, 20 November 2017. The Ol49 Class were a Polish development of the Russian Class Su 116 were built (Including 4 for North Korea) in 1951-54 by Fablok of Chrzanow. The class introduced a new type of boiler-mounted smoke deflectors peculiar to Poland. They had 40 sq ft grate, 5'9" driving wheels, 19.6" x 25" cylinders, 227 psi boiler pressure and weighed 82 tons.
British Rail Class 221 'Super Voyager' Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 2211XX as operated by Virgin Trains West Coast just after the 1R13 04:48 (08:44 10L) arrival from Holyhead at Euston Station in London (UK).
2211XX was built by Bombardier Transportation and entered service on April 12th 2002.
Note the Dellner type coupling system at the front of the train. The Dellner Coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact.
The energy absorption technology in a Dellner Coupling allows collisions at speeds of up to 9 mph with no structural damage and up to 22 mph with deformation while the carriages remain on track.
General Motors powered Network Rail 'bodysnatcher' Class 57 locomotive, 57310 tails 57305 in the sandite/water mist at speed southbound at Generals Lane Boreham on the GEML with the autumn weekday 08:34 3S60 Stowmarket DGL- Stowmarket DGL via Shenfield, Clacton, Bury St. Edmunds, Ely, Thetford, Soham and Norwich etc RHTT sandite spraying duties.
RHTT trains spray water and sandite jets at up to 20,000 psi for the cleaning and removal of autumnal fallen leaves from the rail head.
57310 first entered service as Brush type 4 D1618 on September 5th 1964.
I found this while trying to do some cleaning on the computer. It was taken during our holiday on Crete two years ago. I just love her being so cool 😉

A grimy class 40 drags a long class 6 train out of the sidings, over the estuary and away on the single line out of Montrose. April 79.
This model of Dickens Class Mk2, RASC General Service Launch was built and photographed by Mr Robin Hepworth and is based on the former Newman Noggs now the African Queen.
Paul McCartney once owned a Dickens Class (Barnaby Rudge) which he used as his private yacht.

Essendine
Grey-liveried Class 92 92010 runs south at very moderate speed with 1Z93 York to Ashford charter. The sun had been out for the entire 20 minutes I had been waiting!
Direct Rail Services Class 37 locomotive 37605 slowing down to stop at Chelmsford Railway Station on 5Z41 Norwich Crown Point- Wolverton Railcare/Crewe IEMD convoy working with Class 90, 90009 and DVT 82152 dead in tow. 82152 was later left at Wolverton works and 90009 was taken on to Crewe.

Class 90 Electric Locomotive 90024 ex Norwich at speed towards London through Hatfield Peverel Station in Essex. This particular locomotive is on loan to National Express East Anglia from First Scotrail and it wears Scotrail livery.
