British Rail Type 5 Class 56 diesel locomotive 56311 stabled at York Station (UK).
56311 was built in 1979/1980 is owned and operated by freight operator 'Devon and Cornwall Railways' (DCR).

in the days when they use to divert trains this one was sometimes on ,from reading the poole trains went to staines where they run round and then down via chertsey and west at the weybridge curve,all good fun :)

La classe Phaeophyceae comprende le cosiddette alghe brune. Esse sono organismi complessi da un punto di vista anatomico e morfologico, sempre pluricellulari, quasi esclusivamente marini e che prediligono acque fredde e ben ossigenate. Comprendono circa 250 generi per un totale di oltre 1500 specie. Contengono clorofilla a e c, caroteni (in particolare betacarotene) e grandi quantità di xantofille come pigmenti accessori. Tra queste la fucoxantina è quella responsabile della colorazione di queste alghe.
Questa varietà di pigmenti consente di effettuare la fotosintesi clorofilliana a differenti profondità negli oceani dove lo spettro luminoso sfruttabile non è completo. I loro cloroplasti sono rappresentati da membrane fotosintetiche raggruppate in lamelle formate da 3 tilacoidi. Hanno una parete formata da acido alginico nella parte più esterna e cellulosa nell'interno.
La sostanza di riserva principale è il laminarano (un polisaccaride), che ha localizzazione citoplasmatica e non plastidiale.
Hanno due tipi di talli:
aplostico (forma più semplice), in cui le divisioni cellulari avvengono in un'unica direzione dello spazio formando filamenti;
plostico (forma più complessa), le divisioni cellulari avvengono in tutte e tre le direzioni dello spazio.
Sono solitamente le alghe di dimensioni maggiori e si possono trovare galleggiare in acqua grazie a delle strutture dette cisti ricche di aria o di olio. Il fatto che siano così esposte alla luce solare non è un problema per il diseccamento, perché producono delle sostanze mucillaginose, tra le quali alginati, che fanno in modo che le cellule di queste alghe siano sempre ben idratate.
Le laminariali sono la massima espressione morfologica delle alghe.
Possiedono un tallo plostico di tipo parenchimatico, in cui è necessario un sistema di trasporto dei prodotti della fotosintesi dalle zone illuminate dell'alga in cui vengono sintetizzati alle zone in cui vengono utilizzate.
Lo sporofito delle laminariali si divide in 3 parti:
aptero, che à ncora l'alga al substrato (simile ad una radice);
cauloide, simile al fusto delle piante superiori;
filloide, costituente le fronde.

The model class 150/2 is a repainted standard Bachmann offering.
The model has been backdated to as delivered condition by cutting the gangway door window and adding the perspex dirt cover.
A light weathering in due course will complete the model.

BR Class 118 BRCW DMU WR set no. C465, Swansea High Street, 9 September 1986. The Ian Allan ABC 1988 British Rail Multiple-Units volume suggests that the front and rear coaches would be 51307 (DMBS) and 51322 (DMS). This would make the front coach here 51307, although the centre coach cannot easily be identified. The train has Valley Train logos and a Welsh dragon.
