This the first time that I have seen the steam car again after its crash at Sihlbrugg with serious damage to its infrastructure.
After running into problems in Halifax, where the Halterm loop track was out-of-service and VIA Rail could not turn their Ocean train, the train shoved up the 64 miles of the Bedford subdivision to Truro, NS before they could turn their train and continue the trip north/west. This meant VIA 15 would be about 7 hours late into Saint-Hyacinthe, making for a great shot in afternoon light. Here, the train is slowing into Saint-Hyacinthe station with a pair of F40's leading a Renaissance trainset and the Tremblant Park. Consist : VIA 6426, VIA 6454.
On my way back to the west, I was overtaken near Kurort Rathen by a Metrans train in the direction of Dresden.

Sitting on a rocky slope filled with golf balls, we were able to catch 3 eastbound trains coming out of Tahoe National Forest in a relatively short amount of time. Without being hit by a golf ball, fortunately :)
This is the final photo of the series of last year's trip to the western United States. It were very intensive, but rewarding, 10 days and we had a lot of fun travelling, visiting places and making these photos.
I can't wait to go back to the west side of the Atlantic...
After this final shot, we packed our stuff and headed back to San Francisco to witness the Giants beat the Mets :)

Next Eurocity would be in a couple of hours. We chose to spend our time in Fentange, hoping for a freight train. We got B-Logistic's 1338 with an empty steel train, probably to Bettembourg.

Family portrait! After a 6-year stint at CN as a brakeman, conductor and locomotive engineer, fellow railfan and friend Julien Boily (middle) is making the jump to VIA Rail, where he will man the Montréal-Jonquière trains, starting next month. This week is his last at CN, and I drove up to Drummondville to get a few souvenir shots as he worked as conductor on the crew of CN 514.
