Our beauty is really doing well. She went today out to the station in Brugg and will be next Saturday do a test run to Olten an back.
This includes also checking that the new small axles behave well and do not heat up.
But today all went well and fine.

Le chemin de fer Darjeeling Himalayan Railway ou chemin de fer himalayen de Darjeeling — surnommé Toy Train, train jouet — est une ligne de chemin de fer qui relie Siliguri (gare de 'New Jalpaiguri') à Darjeeling, dans l'État indien du Bengale-Occidental. Construite de 1879 à 1881, elle est classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. L'écartement des rails, de type 'voie étroite', est de deux pieds, soit 61 centimètres.

Anxiously looking for a spot to make a photo of the next train to Oujda finally resulted in a panic shot from on top a bridge. Only judge a picture when you get to see it on the screen at home, the motto of one of my fellow travellers, was proven right again. Glad I made it, as it shows a typical, beautiful Moroccon landscape.

Getting lucky! At the end of a productive day of photography in the beautiful Saguenay region of northern Québec, I was treated to a rare Roberval Saguenay (RS) move on the Canadian National (CN) Lac Saint-Jean subdivision. Owned by Rio Tinto Alcan and mostly serving the companies 4 massive plants in the area, the Roberval Saguenay operates two lines linked by a 20-mile stretch of CN iron between Arvida and Saguenay Power. CN's nightly train 588 usually shuttles the hoppers of aluminum oxide between the two locations, but the RS retains trackage rights to keep its smelters going when service disruptions happen on CN. Consist : RS 64, RS 72, GMTX 2167.

The lines around Geraardsbergen are frequented by the steel traffic between Ghent and La Louvière.
Just outisde Geraardsbergen, right across the language border, 1316 is hauling slabs train 39744 to La Louvière for further processing.

After a warm 3-hour train ride I got out into the freezing cold morning air, ready for a full day of hiking in the snow.
Through the morning fog in Bertrix station, two series 13 locomotives from Lineas welcomed me with their howling sound, heading north with the first freight I would see that day.

During our second day of our 2018 Bulgaria trip, we got to see one of BDZ's dark red Ludmilla locomotives. It's seen in Bogdantsi, leading a late evening train from Silistra to Gorna Oryahovitsa on the non-electrified part of the route.

Clocking in at 620 axles and over 13,000 ft, CN's daily Toronto-Halifax stack train is crossing the Richelieu river with a Joffre crew headed back home on this fine October morning. Consist : CN 5782, CN 8877, CN 2519, CN 8891.
De toekomst van de spoorlijn Zwolle - Kampen ("Het Kamperlijntje") moge bekend zijn bij spoorweghobbyisten: in 2017 wordt de lijn geelektrificeerd, de NS wordt vervangen door vervoerder Syntus en het klassieke spoorwegemplacement van Kampen (IJsselmuiden) wordt opgebroken. Reden genoeg om met fraaie winterrijp er snel nog even langs te gaan. We waren er net op tijd want door de opkomende zon was het witte 'goud' een half uur na deze opname al grotendeels verdwenen.
Dutch National Railways (NS) DMU 3429 (class DM'90 built by Talbot between 1996 and 1998 with nickname Buffalo) has just left the station of Kampen on its way to Zwolle. This branch will be electrified/reconstructed and service will be taken over by the private operator Syntus during this year. Due to the upcoming sun the white 'gold' melted almost completely within 30 minutes after this picture was taken.

La BB15040 en tête d'une V2N Picarde est vue peu après la gare de Gannes et assure un TER Amiens > Paris Nord.
Door de instroom van treinstellen van type Sprinter Nieuwe Generatie (SNG) zullen de oude Sprintertreinstellen van het type 'Elektrisch Materieel ’74' het veld ruimen.
De nieuwe SNG-stellen worden door CAF in Spanje gemaakt. Als gevolg van de COVID-19 epidemie is in maart 2020 de CAF-fabriek gesloten geweest. Hierdoor stokte de aanvoer van de nieuwe treinstellen. Hierdoor rijden de oude Sprintertreinstellen langer door dan gepland. Sinds de nieuwe materieelomloop van september 2020 zijn deze treinstellen weer terug op de Stichtse Lijn (de spoorlijn van Baarn via Soest naar Den Dolder).
De Stichtse lijn kent nog een aantal stukken met een heerlijk nostalgische sfeer van de vroegere lokaalspoorwegen. Vooral rond de Soester Kerkbuurt, waar de spoorlijn langs de landerijen van de Soester Eng en de voormalige zuivelfabriek voert.
Op de fraaie zondagmiddag van 20 september 2020 boemelt het inmiddels 37 jaar oude Spintertreinstel met een gematigd gangetje langs zonnebloemen en zuivelfabriek.

In the last year, CN has started running unit grain trains to Saint-Hyacinthe for unloading at Transbordement Saint-Hyacinthe's facility, which is located north of Highway 20 on the Saint-Jude spur. This requires most of the grain cars to be setoff into track E109 on the south side of the mainlines, and the overflow to be setoff in track E130 on the north side. Here, the crew of CN 846 is tying down about 75 cars into track E109 and has left about 25 more on the south main, which it will then grab and take to the north side, where 519 will be waiting to take them to the client. CN 519 is seen returning from a trip up the Saint-Jude spur with 9 empty cars that 846 will take back to Taschereau yard with their power. The crews and RTC performed this switcharoo very efficiently on an unusually busy morning on the Saint-Hyacinthe subdivision.
Still waiting for the next Eurocity, we ended up in Baranzy. I had seen photos at this location before, from the other direction. It turned out to be nice for northbound trains as well.
My little secret: at the Delhaize grocery store closeby, you're likely to find full crates of Orval beer ;)

More autumn colors, please! We stay in Saint-Mesmin for the next train was scheduled shortly after the previous shot. The bridge north of the station was the perfect location to capture a train in between the abundantly colored foliage.
