Once the freight train arrives at it's destination, it is quickly pulled apart and the cars delivered to where they will be unloaded. Swiss railways work very efficiently, no different here: in almost no time the first car was delivered to a local distribution centre.

Forrested hills with houses scattered over them, a curve and a freight hauled by an 1144 locomotive. I found this view per accident, looking for possibilities around Küb. I love improvising like this, even though it's not always successful.

From Montreal to Quebec, through the french-speaking part of Canada. Peak autumn colors were past already, autumn was sensory present only by rain and cold. The taillight of a freight that we couldn’t overtake anymore made me decide to defy the weather and wait for another opportunity. Lucky me, the passenger train followed quickly.

I was feeling like ending this beautiful day in a good way, enjoying the last rays of sunshine, before driving back home. Not a lot beats sitting at a quiet place with sun heating up your body. The place I found did not really qualify for the quiet criterium, right next to the road, but considering it was only april there wasn't all that much traffic. I was lucky, because this evening I saw a lot of northbound trains at the exact right time. Only minutes before shadows started eating away the foreground I got this nice looking Traxx engine hauling containers along the right bank of the Rhine river; it's bright red livery contrasting nicely with the warm green of the bushes.

On a rare lazy Saturday, I could chase some trains in the Gent region. This picture shows a rerouted car train towards Zeebrugge. Due to infrastructure works, this train took the scenic route via Brussels. It's seen passing here in Serskamp, almost back on its usual route.

Le 26 Juillet 2018, la BB 22312 assurait un des habituels TER reliant Marseille Saint Charles et Nice Ville, assurés le plus souvent en rames tractées ou en automotrice, et avec un trajet long d’environ 2h40. Ce dernier passe dans les vignes de Cuers entre Toulon et Carnoules sous les premiers rayons de soleil du matin.

A tiny train on a tiny track (750 mm gauge) goes its way in the bushes of a huge barren landscape in Patagonia. This is the “La Trochita” railway (Ing. Jacobacci to Esquel), near La Cancha, Argentina.

In Arzviller you get to see something unusal. The railway line and the canal run right next to each other, and dive under the mountain together, each in their own separate tunnel. I found it a good spot to wait for the first Eurocity to Brussels of that day. Watching the boats go by, and hoping that one would pass at the right time... no luck. The ripples in the water are still witness to the passing of one just before the train came by.

A pair of GEVO's are making easy work of about 30 cars headed north to La Tuque from Garneau yard on a fine, chilly and crystal clear May afternoon. The train is passing the hamlet of Lac-Chat, where a few houses and summer cottages dot a small, but beautiful lake overlooked my steep rocky formations on the east side. The La Tuque subdivision profile is mostly that of a steady, slow climb, as opposed to the roller coaster profile of the nearby Lac Saint-Jean subdivision. Consist : CN 3171, CN 2870.
A southbound WNYP empty rock train glides down into Driftwood, PA with a trio of big MLW's leading the charge. On the left is a NS AC44C6M that has been sitting in Driftwood for a few weeks, apparently stuck in administrative limbo. Consist : WNYP 630, WNYP 638, WNYP 637.

The shunter was coming back from its work under diesel power. The driver is the left. She is wearing remote control, so could also stand on the ground to direct the locomotive.
The shunt worker has a hand free for a wave.
An unidentified Prima II locomotive is approaching Meknes, through a mediterranean-like landscape. Only difference: a mosque instead of a church.
After this shot we called it a day and went looking for a place to sleep. We ended up in a beautiful ryad. According to wikipedia, a ryad is a traditional house or palace surrounding a garden. I would definitely go for the palace definition :)

Venant de quitter la gare de Cruchten, cette série 2000 des CFL en UM 2 sont photographiées sous une belle luminosité hivernale au train RB (Regionalbunn) 3638 Diekierch : 13h50 > Luxembourg : 14h38. Il est possible de voir des UM 3 sur ce parcours... Il est à noter que cette liaison est le terrain de jeu de cette série du moins pour le moment...
The day was coming to an end. Our first day along this cargo line was a banger. The unknown country was really fun to travel in, and inviting for more to discover.
Last pictures of the day were shot near Douar El Yssouf, in an attempt to catch a train in the ast rays of sunshine.

With a Sunday market glowing in downtown Teoloyucan, a small town north of Mexico City, Ferrovalle's afternoon Barrientos job cautiously passes southbound on the línea Morelos. This train runs 1-3 times a day and shuttles raw material between a CEMEX quarry at the northern end of Ferrovalle's territory, just north of Huehuetoca, and a cement plant in Barrientos, in the northern suburbs of Mexico City.

Human beings have autopilots when it comes to doing what you really want to do. And so I was able to continue making photos, albeit a bit slower than before. We were expecting a freight train to Samedan and decided to wait for it at Bever station. We also knew from yesterday's observations that the next train from Chur could be hauled by a mighty Ge6/6 II engine. Lucky we were, as in warm sunlight we saw number 707 of the aforementioned class enter the station.

Het Italiaanse Reggio Emilia telt ongeveer 170.000 inwoners maar het station aan de hogesnelheidslijn tussen Milano en Bologna moest de allure van een wereldstad uitstralen. De Spaanse architect Santiago Calatrava ontwierp het station dat werd geopend in 2013. De omgeving van het station is nu - bijna 10 jaar later - nog altijd niet gereed en met het reeds nodige verval is dit architectonische hoogstandje duidelijk niet voor de praktijk en eeuwigheid gebouwd. In beeld een deel van de perronoverkapping en luifel bij de hoofdingang tegen een onheilspellende lucht, 24-09-2022.
