Contrairement à la rumeur commune le conducteur ne choisit pas son itinéraire, et vu la complexité de certaines zones d’aiguilles - comme ici de la gare Montparnasse à Paris - tant mieux !
29 June 2025 - A summer picture : in Wassen (Switzerland, Canton Uri), a railfan (“worldwide”-famous!) takes a bath in the Reuss while the historic locomotive Ae8/14 passes the lower Wattinger bridge on the Gotthard line.
The engine was doing one of its regular historic trains on the upper Gotthard line, from Erstfeld to Biasca and back. The Swiss railfan was taking one of its traditional baths to refresh during a heatwave.

I can't believe it's not Julien Boily! CN's daily Garneau-La Tuque turn skirts the rocky shores of lake Masketsi near mileboard 83 of the La Tuque subdivision, some 10 miles north of Hervey-Jonction, with a pair of toasters leading 4 cars. This job's role is to serve the massive WestRock paper plant in the city of La Tuque, which lies 42 track miles ahead. Look closely and you will see the engineer wearing a mask. Consist : CN 3144, CN 2967.

I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!

Terwijl in heel West-Europa de zon dagenlang uitbundig scheen bleef er boven de Oostzeekust een smalle wolkenrand hangen. Onder die sombere, maar desondanks sfeervolle omstandigheden verlaat locomotief 99 2331-9 van de Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn "Molli" de plaats Heiligendamm. Vanwege de vele klassieke witte gebouwen is Heiligendamm ook bekend als ‘Die weiße Stadt am Meer’.
Niet alleen de gebouwen zijn klassiek, dat geldt ook voor het fraaie inrijsein met zogenaamde ‘Negativflügel’. Hierbij handelt het om een seinarm die in tegengestelde kleuren dan normaal is geschilderd vanwege een betere herkenbaarheid bij een donkere achtergrond. In heel Duitsland hebben slechts rond de 60 van dergelijke seinen gestaan.
Sinds het begin van de jaren ’80 waren de Negativflügel bij de Deutsche Bundesbahn in West-Duitsland niet meer aan te treffen. Bij de Deutsche Reichsbahn in de DDR waren dit type seinen nog tot aan het begin van deze eeuw aan te treffen. Sinds oktober 2008 kent Duitsland weer een Negativflügel, in de vorm van dit inrijsein A.

Après avoir dépassé le Transilien à Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, c'est sous une éclaircie inespérée que se présente la BB67596 qui rapatrie la BB15051 avec la rame Corail 831, du Havre à Paris-Batignolles sous la marche 717202 avec +38.
While the bottom of the valley is still covered in shadows, the west-side is bathing in sunlight. The town of Wassen seems to be strategically located, getting sun early during the day.
Train 67767 connects Hüntwagen-Wil with Sigirino - minutes before this sunny photo was taken, it was still riding in the dark part of the valley. These trains transporting gravel (I guess) were a common sight on the Gotthard railway. You could even see several ones per day. Today, they ride through the new base tunnel, too.

The club is renovating this private machine in each detail. A member made me aware of the bronze frames around the windows. He said that this would be a nice additional touch to leave them in this natural way - but historically this would be wrong. So they will be painted over again.

SNCF: the Cerdagne narrow gauge line is one of the most picturesque railways in France. Known with the nickname of "Train Jaune" or "Canari", it has a length of 62.5 km, metric gauge and is electrified with a third rail at 850 V DC. It was commissioned between 1910 and 1927.
A train from Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg to Villefranche-de-Conflent, made up of three railcars, one open trailer and two closed trailers. (Improved scan of a paper photo taken by me).
InterCity van Antwerpen Centraal naar Kortrijk, waar de trein gesplitst wordt. Treinstel 460 rijdt verder naar Poperinge, terwijl treinstel 470 door gaat naar Lille-Flandres.

The depot Olten had their moving party. So here is the collection of second generation machines being presented at their place: Ae 3/5 and Be 4/7 with their Secheron drives, Ae 3/6 II with the connecting rods and finally the Ae 4/7 with Buchli drives.
2 locomotives for train 206 from Oujda to Fès. The train is seen near the "barrage Idriss 1er", a large reservoir.

We were quite undecided on what to do next. We didn't yet expect another loco-hauled RE2, and the giant cloud seemed to be remaining in place. Best thing we found was hanging around at the station of Marktleuthen, where we were surprised by the white nose of a loco. It turned out to be a rare diesel Traxx, operated by Stahlwerk Thüringen. THe white loco is almost lost amidst the abundant autumn colors.

Besides going to Switzerland with my parents as a kid, we also stayed in the Voeren region during summer vacation. It were fun vacations, and I also have great memories of the trains crawling up the hill towards the German border. Around the viaduct of Sint-Martens-Voeren I actually made my first train photos, only featuring now disappeared locomotive classes.
I enjoy going back there. The region is splendid and the trains are still fascinating. On the afternoon of Saturday march 5th I hung around the viaduct of Sint-Martens-Voeren to photograph it from a couple of different angles. Things change, but so far this viaduct has remained how I remember it. Mainly massive and consisting of arches.
