SNCF: the Cerdagne narrow gauge line is one of the most picturesque railways in France. Known with the nickname of "Train Jaune" or "Canari", it has a length of 62.5 km, metric gauge and is electrified with a third rail at 850 V DC. It was commissioned between 1910 and 1927.
A train from Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg to Villefranche-de-Conflent, made up of three railcars, one open trailer and two closed trailers. (Improved scan of a paper photo taken by me).
InterCity van Antwerpen Centraal naar Kortrijk, waar de trein gesplitst wordt. Treinstel 460 rijdt verder naar Poperinge, terwijl treinstel 470 door gaat naar Lille-Flandres.

The depot Olten had their moving party. So here is the collection of second generation machines being presented at their place: Ae 3/5 and Be 4/7 with their Secheron drives, Ae 3/6 II with the connecting rods and finally the Ae 4/7 with Buchli drives.
2 locomotives for train 206 from Oujda to Fès. The train is seen near the "barrage Idriss 1er", a large reservoir.

Ook de Duitse lokaalspoorlijn van de Kleinbahn Delmenhorst-Harpstedt (KDH) nabij Bremen ontkwam niet aan de crisis van de jaren 30 en moest bezuinigen. Het aantal reizigers daalde en stoomtreinen met al het bijbehorende personeel etc werden te duur. Met de in 1936 door Waggonfabrik Wismar geleverde railbus T1 kon het kleinschalige personenvervoer toch nog overeind worden gehouden. We zien (en horen) hoe het net afgeleverde railbusje in de vroege ochtend (pruttelend) onderweg is naar Harpstedt door een dunbevolkt gebied met uitgestrekte velden en bossen ....... of ..... zien we deze motorwagen 88 jaar later bij de Museum Buurtspoorweg (MBS) van Haaksbergen naar Boekelo op 06-04-2024?
Also the German railway operator Kleinbahn Delmenhorst-Harpstedt (KDH) near Bremen did not escape the crisis of the 1930s and had to make cutbacks. The number of passengers dropped and steam trains with all the associated personnel etc became too expensive. With the small railbus T1 delivered in 1936 by Waggonfabrik Wismar, the small-scale passenger transport could still be kept afloat. We see how the just delivered railbus T1 is on its way to Harpstedt through a sparsely populated area with fields and woods ....... or ..... do we see this motor coach 88 years later at the Dutch heritage railway Museum Buurtspoorweg (MBS) from Haaksbergen to Boekelo on 06-04-2024?

We were quite undecided on what to do next. We didn't yet expect another loco-hauled RE2, and the giant cloud seemed to be remaining in place. Best thing we found was hanging around at the station of Marktleuthen, where we were surprised by the white nose of a loco. It turned out to be a rare diesel Traxx, operated by Stahlwerk Thüringen. THe white loco is almost lost amidst the abundant autumn colors.

After this picture we would head further east. Hoping to find DF-100 diesels hauling freight between Nador and Taourirt.

Besides going to Switzerland with my parents as a kid, we also stayed in the Voeren region during summer vacation. It were fun vacations, and I also have great memories of the trains crawling up the hill towards the German border. Around the viaduct of Sint-Martens-Voeren I actually made my first train photos, only featuring now disappeared locomotive classes.
I enjoy going back there. The region is splendid and the trains are still fascinating. On the afternoon of Saturday march 5th I hung around the viaduct of Sint-Martens-Voeren to photograph it from a couple of different angles. Things change, but so far this viaduct has remained how I remember it. Mainly massive and consisting of arches.

A pair of CN toasters pull a modest-size (by CN standards) Halifax-Chicago sea can train west between Saint-Germain and Saint-Eugène sidings. Recently, CN has been running these extra trains weekly to keep up with a recent spike in intermodal traffic.

Le temps passe vite et il est donc l’occasion de ressortir une photo qui a presque 9 ans.
Février 2016, la BB 22258 RC quitte la gare de Nice-Ville avec ses RRR à destination de Menton.
L’époque inox sur la Côte d’Azur allait bientôt toucher à sa fin avec l’arrivée des rames Régio2N.
Cette machine, comme ses sœurs, ont donc par la suite étés mutées pour certaines en Grand-Est, et dans les Hauts-De-France pour les autres.
La 22258 RC est d’ailleurs redescendue dans sa région d’origine il y a peu. Ce qui m’a donnée l’idée de publier ce petit cliché souvenir.

Le 11 Avril 2017, la BB 26016 en livrée carmillon et son Intercités en provenance de Paris Austerlitz sont vus de passage dans les champs de Tivernon, entre Paris et Orléans.
Every week-evening, Rotterdam Rail Feeding brings a train from the DOW Chemical factory in Terneuzen to the Combinant terminal in Antwerp. Between Terneuzen and Gent the train usually runs early - very a-typical for a freight train. Being an hour early is no luxury, and even then you can't be sure if it has already passed or not. My first attempt to make a photo of this train was a succesfull one. I didn't know yet about it riding before hour; I was just plain lucky that today it rode right on time!

After a late afternoon departure from Mérida yard, the Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec (FIT) crew of the Valladolid local is already one hour into its trip and has only made it as far as the Los Héroes neighborhood, in the eastern outskirts of the city. Up ahead is a long night of slow running on this well-worn piece of trackage. The track here actually runs between two sides of a busy street, but is well hidden by trees.

After the photos on the electric line, it was time for another random shot. I picked a spot on the map, east of Fès, where the sun would be good for westbound trains. Spot-on. The first diesel train we got on this line was hauled by an old GT26 locomotive. Passenger trains on this line are hauled by both American (EMD) built GT26’s and Croation (TŽV Gredelj) re-built NGT26CW-3.

A Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec (FIT) northbound road freight is passing by the old estación in the village of Chocholá, which lies a little over 30 kilometers from downtown Mérida. Many of the former NdeM stations along the line are still standing, and some have been repurposed, including this one, which now houses the town's library. Consist : BOTX 3901, BOTX 1824, BOTX 2002, BPMX 3916.
La BB22294 en tête du TAA reliant Paris-Bercy-Conflans à Nice-Ville, serpente le long de la côte mais aussi du Massif de l'Esterel et emmêne les véhicules de nombreux vacanciers qui viennent se reposer sur la Côte d'Azur. La rame est vue à Anthéor dans le Var avec un retard de 11min. Ce train met exactement 13h09 pour descendre dans le sud.
Almost an extinct species: one of the last remaining green engines in front of the regional train to Lugano was a welcome distraction. It has just exited the Gotthard tunnel, highest point on the line, and will start the downhill journey to Bellinzona after a short stop at Airolo station.

I'm always conscious of local culture when we're out on a trip. A special interest in local beer culture makes a trip all the more interesting. In the background of this photo, you can see the buildings of the Brasserie Meteor. This independant brewery is home to Meteor (pils and lager) and Wendelinus (blonde and roussa), and also creates occasional brewings.
We saw many trains, including a Eurocity: SNCF 26167 with EC 96 "Iris" from Basel to Brussels.
