The first week of august was hot, incredibly hot, in the Alsace region. After a short night I decided that it was time to get up early and enjoy the cool morning temperatures along the tracks. Well, a little before 7am I was standing next to the tracks in only a t-shirt. At least temperature was still bearable.
Of course I got to see some trains: lots of vintage stuff like TGV Réseau and Sybic locomotives, but the banger came at the end: an empty car train from Busto Arsizio to Gent-Zeehaven. This would have been a good train to hitchhike back home.

During the wait at Pontebba, the rail line was cleared again after the infrastructure works. It didn't make sense to stay there, though, as the line in tunnels offers only little possibilities. I decided to head to the flats south of the Alps, hoping for freights against the mountain backdrop.
Spot-on when I arrived at Tricesimo. Not only was there the mountain backdrop, it was also very sunny, warm, and I got one freight after the other. 8 in 1,5 hours, to be more precise. I selected 1 photo to show here, but more will be visible on railscapes.blog when I get the day's report out.

L'E86 ET 17 "Mezzolombardo" effettua il Treno 306 (Trento - Mezzolombardo) del 5 marzo 2024. La foto mostra l'elettrotreno mentre percorre il ponte sul fiume Noce, tra Mezzocorona e Mezzolombardo.
Strekov castle is a famous landmark in the Elbe river valley, dating from 1316. It is one of railway photographers' favorite subjects in Usti Nad Labem. I had to go check it out of course, and in the course of an hour or so got quite a few cargo trains.

Un 21 mai ensoleillé, plutôt calme et pas de FRET où du moins, pas au bon moment mais, y a des rames Corails c'est déjà ça.
Parmi les R2N, Corails IC et TER sur le PO, passage furtif dans le célèbre coin de Monnerville, de la BB 22324 OUIGO, en tête de sept voitures dont une encore Carmillon pour Nantes, depuis Paris Austerlitz sur le train OTC n°4085
A noter que les deux dernière voitures sont vandalisées et honnêtement, quelle tristesse.de voir autant de laxisme car le rendu de la photo, aurait pu être meilleur.

A sunny 21 May, fairly quiet and no freight trains—or at least, none at the right time—but there are some Corail services, so that’s something.
Among the R2N, Corail IC and TER trains on the PO line, a fleeting sighting in the famous Monnerville area of BB 22324 OUIGO, leading seven carriages – one of which is still a Carmillon – bound for Nantes, from Paris Austerlitz on OTC train no. 4085
It’s worth noting that the last two carriages have been vandalised, and honestly, it’s such a shame to see such a lack of care, as the photo could have turned out much better.

Première photo de la BB 22378 dans sa nouvelle robe FrenchBerry, ça se partage non!
La soirée du 7 juin, alors que le soleil se couche progressivement, laissant place à la vie nocturne dans la célèbre dalle de gare d'Austerlitz, cette rame Corail de nuit s'apprête à se lancer dans un long périple de plusieurs centaines de kilomètres vers Tarbes depuis PAZ sous le numéro 3740 en V160.
A noter que la star équipé du TVM430, indispensable pour rouler sous LGV, n'effectuera que la partie jusqu'à Bordeaux, n'étant pas apte au caténaire Midi qui est présent sur le reste du parcours et donc, par conséquent, sera repris par une BB 7200.
L'objectif sera maintenant, de la chopper en ligne comme sa sœur, la 22379 à la livrée proto BB 20011 (chose faite), sous du soleil bien évidemment.

Here’s the first photo of BB 22378 in its new FrenchBerry livery – it’s definitely worth sharing, isn’t it!
On the evening of 7 June, as the sun gradually sets, giving way to nightlife on the famous Austerlitz station forecourt, this Corail night train is preparing to set off on a long journey of several hundred kilometres to Tarbes from PAZ, running as service 3740 in V160 mode.
It’s worth noting that this star train, fitted with the TVM430 – essential for running on high-speed lines – will only cover the section up to Bordeaux, as it isn’t compatible with the Midi catenary system used on the rest of the route; consequently, it will be taken over by a BB 7200.
The aim now is to spot it on the line, just like its sister locomotive, the 22379 in the BB 20011 prototype livery (which has already been done), in the sunshine, of course.

Test d'un nouveau coin avec bien sûr, une douce et belle lumière d'été, dans la commune de Sainte Geneviève des Bois, dans l'Essonne, pour les Corails omnibus de chez TER Centre.
La fin étant proche pour ces derniers sur l'axe PAZ / Orléans, je me dois d'être créatif.
Alors j'improvise et pour mon plus grand plaisir, c'est la belle BB 7206 EV qui ouvre les hostilités, avec derrière elle, pas moins de 5 voitures Corails Rémi sur le TER n°860591 pour Orléans, rentrant ainsi quasi parfaitement dans le cadre avec les célèbre poteaux caténaires à l'ancienne et en voie de disparition dans ce même processus.
Apparemment, c'est prévu pour juillet leurs radiations mais cela reste à confirmer donc, affaire à suivre.

Testing out a new spot – with, of course, the soft, beautiful summer light – in the town of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, in the Essonne department, for the TER Centre’s Corail commuter trains.
As their days on the PAZ–Orléans route are drawing to a close, I have to get creative.
So I’m improvising and, much to my delight, it’s the lovely BB 7206 EV that kicks things off, with no fewer than five Corails Rémi carriages behind her on TER train no. 860591 bound for Orléans, fitting almost perfectly into the frame alongside the famous old-style catenary poles – which are themselves on the verge of disappearing as part of this very process.
Apparently, they’re due to be taken out of service in July, but this remains to be confirmed, so watch this space.

En milieu d’après-midi du 10 Juillet dernier, un convoi de l’infra descend de Portes-lès-Valence avec les BB 67627 et 67433 en tête. Ce dernier est à destination de La Seyne sur Mer pour approvisionner de futurs travaux sur la ligne azuréenne.

Le 10 Mars fût un jour des plus classiques avec un petit spotting rapide, sur le PO, pour chopper l'omnibus en Corail de l'heure creuse.
C'est alors la belle et vielle BB 7218 En Voyage (plus vieille des 7200 encore en service), en tête de ce fameux TER n°860587,Paris Austerlitz / Orléans, à l(heure avec comme à son habitude, cinq voitures Corails Rémi dons une sans le bandeau de l'exploitant, située en deuxième position.
L'ensemble est vu, traversant à vitesse moyenne, dans la commune de Sainte Geneviève des Bois dans l'Essonne, avec comme décore, un aspect assez vintage des années 80 avec les poteaux caténaires encore bien rouge de l'époque, menacés par la modernité, sous un ciel bien menaçant et coup de bol, une éclaircie est passée au bon moment.

Good morning!
10 March was a typical day, with a quick spot on the PO line to catch the off-peak Corail commuter train.
There it was, the beautiful old BB 7218 En Voyage (the oldest of the 7200 series still in service), at the head of the famous TER No. 860587, Paris Austerlitz / Orléans, running on time as usual, with five Corail Rémi carriages, one of which was without the operator’s banner, positioned in second place.
The train is seen here travelling at moderate speed through the town of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois in Essonne, against a backdrop that has a rather vintage 1980s feel, with the catenary poles still a bright red from that era – now under threat from modernisation – beneath a very threatening sky. As luck would have it, a break in the clouds appeared just at the right moment.

Near the former Saint-Hilaire station in Huy, a pretty little annex is falling into ruin.
I find its architectural quality far superior to that of the stations in Mons or Liège...
Aux abords de l'ancienne gare Saint-Hilaire à Huy, une jolie petite annexe tombe en ruine.
Je lui trouve une qualité architecturale bien supérieure aux gares de Mons ou Liège...

The valley west of Tarvisio towards Gemona Del Friuli is very beautiful. The rail line mainly runs through tunnels though, so my visit was rather short as rail happened to be the purpose of my visit.
In Pontebba however the line surfaces, and I found a nice location south of the station. In my best Italian I asked a railway employee if I could stand on the railway property - which he promptly allowed! Grazie, Duolingo!
Then the waiting for a freight train begun. I stood here long time until I eventually found out that there were works going on. The end of the work window was near so I waited just a little bit longer to get a photo of 2 passenger trains, one of them being the FUC train towards Udine.
