It took a lot longer than expected to get to my hotel close to Zilina, Slovakia. The road was narrow, full of curves and rather busy. I did enjoy, though, and I enjoyed the warm dish and the spacious room at the hotel even more. The next day, I had planned a day on the non-electrified railway lines around Horna Stubna, hoping to see some of the 754-series locomotives in action. And who knows, maybe even a "Bardotka" with a freight train.
Not knowing what to expect, I just went to the station of Klastor Pod Znievom where I was lucky enough to catch 754 020 hauling a train to Horna Stubna. A very good start of the day!

As shadows were getting longer, a distant noise announced the train I came here for. The rush hour train with a 21 series locomotive was nice, and a freight train would only make it better. The then regular SNCF train towards France was about right on time and marked the moment to head home after a succesfull photo-evening.

The Dutch railway station Rotterdam Stadion is normally only used during football matches and events at the nearby stadium. However, on the weekend of 24-25 June 2023, trains from the south ended here due to works at Rotterdam Central. This was a great opportunity to capture the infrastructure here for a change.
Very classic (and presumably unique) is the surviving train indicator with the illuminated neon letters of the tracks 'SP 3A', 'SP 4A' and destination 'Dordrecht'. During the day, several other destinations to the south were manually lit but I was glad that by sunset not everything was already switched off.

We spent a recent family weekend in the border region near Montzen. On two occasions I got out to make a few photos in Remersdaal: once during daytime, once during nighttime. Both times I got a mixed freight train from Antwerp to Köln headed by a double Traxx engine. And that's where the similarities between the two photos end. 4 different liveries, 2 operators and a totally different atmosphere. Not sure which one I prefer, I enjoyed the "making of" of both as much.
This picture shows Lineas' 186 492 and 186 454 hauling a mixed freight from Antwerp to Köln-Gremberg.
Would the last hour of a very relaxing and well-filled day be as good as the rest of the day? Judge for yourself, I quite like this photo of a RegioJet towards Kosice.
The present railway station of Naarden-Bussum in The Netherlands was designed by architect H.G.J.Schelling in 1925 and has been recently restored to its former glory.

A chilly autumn morning, one of the first ones of 2016. Through the fog I reached this spot, only guessing it’s the spot I had in mind. One opening at the right time was sufficient to reveal a splendid view on the High Tatra mountain chain. Traffic seemed to be rather dense, and interesting: a passenger pulled train each way per hour, followed by one or more freights. If this was going to set the pace for the day… wait and see!
