This entirely eliminates the good smells of brewing coffee... but also removes the icky-belly-acidity.

In 1919, beer was banned. Barrels were broken. Breweries went belly up. Drinking a beer became an act of protest against those in power. Each toast was a citizen's demand to enjoy life's simple pleasures. When beer became legal again 14 years later, it was never the same. That is, until a few years ago when we discovered an old beer recipe in the basement archives of the brewery dating back before Prohibition. Batch 19™ is inspired by the last batches of beer brewed before 1919.

Orlando Brewing is the local beer. These hand-crafted organic ales and lagers are already available in select bars and restaurants across Central Florida. Many more are coming aboard. And, of course, you can always wet your whistle right here at the Tap Room.
Orlando Brewing is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. What does it mean to be organic? It means that ingredients used in crafting our ales are grown without insecticides, bioengineering, or irradiation.
Orlando Brewing brews in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. That means we use only natural, organic ingredients.

A huge success since its opening day in December 2012, Roosevelt Brewing Company gained 2000 Facebook "likes" in its first three months and packs in happy diners for its creative menu of brick-oven pizzas, barbeque, gourmet cupcakes, and custom in-house beers and ales. Growing up in Clovis, owner/brewmaster Justin Cole learned his skills from his grandfather, one of a long line of family brewers and moonshiners going back to Big Stony Creek, Virginia.

For some of us who like to drink, the coming season is yet another excuse to drink and be festive. Just don't go overboard is my philosophy. Enjoy the season to taste the wacky, weird and unusual...
Walk by shot with Nikon Coolpix L-19 to be inconspicuous... It's a battle, or a bottle if you prefer, of west coast vs. east coast here.
It has many names. It is sake to the Japanese, wine to the French, whisky to the English and rum to the pirates. It is the ubiquitous drink – essential for all. Here it is called chhyang, the drink at every table during dinner. Served in a tall glass, chhyang is especially popular during winter. Chhyang is brewed locally per se in households, by boiling and brewing in containers like these.

A year ago I spent the day with Michigan members of the Society for American Baseball Research. We met for lunch at Lansing Brewing, chatted about Peter Morris' books at Everybody Reads, and took in a ballgame at Cooley Law School Stadium.

sorry for the poor picture; it was a quick snap in a friend's kitchen. this is a mutual friend's home-brewed beer labels.

The first Tuesday of every month, the Market Garden Brewery holds an event called Brews and Prose, which features several authors, writers and poets reading for the audience. I had a great time and definitely want to go again! This past Tuesday, I was there and listened to Michael Ruhlman speak.
