Orlando, FL 32806

Orlando Brewing is the local beer. These hand-crafted organic ales and lagers are already available in select bars and restaurants across Central Florida. Many more are coming aboard. And, of course, you can always wet your whistle right here at the Tap Room.
Orlando Brewing is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. What does it mean to be organic? It means that ingredients used in crafting our ales are grown without insecticides, bioengineering, or irradiation.
Orlando Brewing brews in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. That means we use only natural, organic ingredients.

The brewery of HooDoo Brewing Company is clearly visible from the taproom, which is the way the owners want it - their customers should be able to see where the beer is made while they enjoy it at the bar.

The Gerst Brewing Company, located on 6th Ave S near Mulberry St. There isn't much there today except a warehouse and a historical marker, establishing its ground. But if the interstate had been around during its time, you would have been able to see it during your morning commute. The Nashville Brewery opened on this location in 1859 with various owners until William Gerst took it over in 1893. Brewing some of the best ales and lagers until prohibition, and then switching to sodas and malt beverages. The Gerst Brewery closed down in 1954 (just before the interstate system was established) due to competition.

Expert brewmaster, Anthony Canecchia established SanTan Brewing Company in 2007. Anthony Canecchia has been brewing beer since 1992 when a college friend encouraged him to experiment with making his own homebrew. After a short yet successful amateur venture, he began working for a brewer in Tempe, Arizona where he honed his skills. His uncanny ability to create signature recipes and perfect his own brew has led him on a successful journey to the historic district in Downtown Chandler, Arizona. The historic district is where the brewpub and craft microbrewery laboratory that presents his unique beverages to the public are located.
Brew Dog - Tokyo* Oak Aged Stout 18.2% ABV. If you like imperial stouts then this is the daddy. The odour is sweet and alcoholic. Taste is very sweet, syrupy coffee and chocolate and ripe red berry fruits, and plenty of malt comes through. The sweetness hides the alcohol very well, but you'll know its there as it warms you, however you would not guess it was 18.2 ABV. The head disappears quickly, but leaves a rim, a swirl in the glass will coax a new temporary head. Oily heavy drinking, time needs to be taken. If you like vintage port then I suggest this will appeal to you. I rate it 8/10
Crown Fish and Chips on Chapel Market really plumb the depths of bad fish and chips. In addition to being too cheap to provide real vinegar, the fish was fry, and wrapped in a bright orange, smooth shell of greasy "batter". I strongly recommend never eating there.
And what is non-brewed condiment? It is petrochemical-derived acetic acid, water, and in the case of the brown stuff, caramel for colour. The clear one has "onion flavour".

CP Rail SD40-2 6014 and Soo Line SD60 6033 had an inbound freight at Cut-Off in Milwaukee back in 1998.
The train would work Brew Town for a while before heading southward to Bensenville yard.
The dates of these images are not known. A description of the processes and purposes these images depict have yet to be made, they provide a good idea of the world of brewing at a particular time.
September 9, 1962. Looking worse for wear (if not a bit like the Munster's Mansion) is the abandoned home of the founder of Duluth Brewing and Malting—Reiner Hoch. Before it was demolished to make room for the expressway it was located kitty corner from the old brew house that shows (barely) on the right side of this photograph. Reiner founded the brewery in 1896. His was one of the few homes in this part of town to have gas lights inside while everyone around him used kerosene to light things up at night. By all accounts he was a true businessman, well established in this community and others were he operated businesses, and wealthy. Oh yeah. That neat little Studebaker sedan belonged to Duluth Brewing and Malting. It says so on the side of the driver's door.
If you'd like to read more about Duluth Brewing and Malting you'll find no better resource than the January-February 1999 issue of American Breweriana Journal. Pete Clure and Doug Davis wrote an astounding story on the history of the company with dozens of pictures. Find a copy for yourself on eBay if you can. What I know about Reiner and his brewery I learned from Pete over the telephone.
Thanks Pete... Cheers!
