Thankfully it skirted us, so no soaking this time.
The River Arno in Florence with the dome of Santo Spirito behind of the city's many cranes!
I'm now 'back in circulation' so will be doing some catching up over the next couple of days....

According to the Powell River Museum, this site was operated by the Mahood Logging Co., and was once a railroad camp. On their website (www.powellrivermuseum.ca/place-names.html) a photo titled "Wolfson Logging at Brew Bay" is dated c. 1915.

Storm clouds brewing over Sudbury Hall. I dashed outside to catch this lovely display of clouds and light. For a few brief moments the hall was lit by the low afternoon sun and the incoming rainclouds just looked awesome. All over in 2 minutes.
Our first visit to Brass Elk Brewing. It sits on the bank of the Elkhart River, with a great outdoor dining area....which is enclosed with heaters this time of year....it was snowing might I add. We chose to eat indoors.
Grind: Extra Fine (Tiny Circles & Effect: None), Brew: Treble (Full Pic & Darkest Blended Circles), Serve: Black (Clear Tone & Paper Cup Texture)
I liked almost all of these so I might just post them all! I bought Tom a new Chemex as a surprise because the other one broke. Nothing beats this brew!
Sycamore Gap tree destroyed. A young man cut down the iconic tree at night. He is already arrested, but the tree is no longer there.
No trip to Snowdonia would be complete without a trip or two to Dinorwic. Headed up there on the Sunday we were there and although it we pretty flat on the quarry itself, the cloud formations opposite were amazing.
A storm was brewing and the winds were howling. However, the sun just happened to be shining through for a moment. Strangely enough I was on a sideroad that led nowhere when shooting this spot. But as luck would have it, two enormous hopper bottom trucks went by separately, stirring up dust storms. Each going in opposite directions led me to think sometimes there are two different kinds of people.
One truck sped up as he went by on the gravel road, and covered me with a blanket of dirt and dust. The other slowed to a crawl noticing my camera on a tripod, and sprinkled me with more fine dust. In both cases I removed my camera from its tripod and hid it under my coat for a long while. A good cleaning was necessary when I got home. Both of us.

Macro Mondays 'brew' theme.
I don't drink normal black tea or coffee but do enjoy herbal and fruit teas - varieties of rooibos and white teas being among my favourites. For this week's MM theme I've chosen a grapefruit pyramid tea bag and a few chamomile flowers.
The image measures approx 5 cm in width

I'm happy that Photo Argus included this photo in their 40 lovely pictures of tea feature.

Took this picture Friday (Oct. 8, 2021) while on my way to Stockton CA. Bonneville Salt Flats, west of the Great Salt Lake, Utah. Ran into first snow of the year about 100 miles west of here in Nevada. Wasn't much, just a couple of inches which had fallen before I got there, so pretty much just a little slush.
I'm doing fine, other than working my ass off. Near Portland Oregon right now, have a delivery at 2230, the back to our terminal to grab another loaded trailer and deliver it at 0300. Only about 100 miles total driving between the two deliveries, just ugly hours. Then picking up a load tomorrow evening at 1800 and headed to Central California to deliver that one Wednesday at 0500.
I'm planning to retire in June unless my 401K and stock investments tank. So far I'm in pretty good shape despite crazy market gyrations. Up over 4K today, mostly due to my SOFI stocks going up over 10%. My other favorite stock is Palantir PLTR. I've been actively trading stocks this year and up over 20%. Tried day trading when I had a day off, did terrible and lost a little over $900. Swing trading has been pretty successful so far, winning more than losing. Earlier this year I was down over 30K, but knew Palantir would turn around. Took about two and a half months, but my conviction finally paid off and now up over 15K just with swing trading PLTR. Enough stock talking, needless to say I enjoy trading stocks and looking forward to retirement to do more and hopefully helping to fund my retirement.
Still doing photography, not as much, but still stop when I see an opportunity to capture something interesting to me, like this stormy scene over the salt flats. Once retired planning to do a lot more photography and traveling without the crappy schedule of trucking.
I've been healthy, fully vaccinated despite all the political noise over vaxed or non-vaxed. For me, the risk from the vaccine versus not getting vaccinated was a no brainer. My daughter the "covid" nurse, son-in-law and three grandchildren just had covid. Wasn't severe, only a few days feeling like crap for the adults. The grandchildren tested positive but never showed and symptoms. My 88 year old mom, is doing great, vaxed and still working out everyday with her Comrade Jane Fonda work out videos. Brad her little dog is grown up, still small and according to her, a good little bed buddy.
Feel guilty posting knowing I'll only have time to visit a few of you. But posting for anyone wondering if I'm still alive, just wanted to let you know I am. I do miss all of you. Just busy making as much money as I can before retirement. Huge shortage of truck drivers, so they're paying us more and keeping us very busy.
I have tons of pictures to post, so once I'm retired pretty sure everyone will get sick of me and my comments. lol, hopefully not.
