Our favorite Halloween tradition is smashing and shredding fresh pumpkins in a woodchipper to use in Ghoulschip. After it’s all brewed, we send the wort to rest among the specters in our Coolship—on Halloween night—where it collects wild microflora from the chill Maine air. The finished blend consists of one-, two-, and three-year-old barrel-aged beer.
On November 11th, Brews + Prose had Kevin Keating and Thrity Umrigar as readers, and as usual, it was a good time!
Here, you can see Dave Lucas and Kevin Keating sharing a moment before Kevin started his reading.

Thanks to LindaMPH I've discovered Fluidr. It's a great way to view photos easily on black... I love it. Thanks Linda. :-)
A storm brewing over a [wheat/barley/maize/corn] field... who could resist. I love it when the clouds get like this... big fluffy cumulus building and merging in the evening light. It makes me tingle with awe inside. Yep - still a cloud geek in my heart. :-) I know it's not the most spectacular of shots but the farmer was watching to make sure I didn't sabotage his crop. ;-)
Pouring malt for beer making, it's so viscous it makes a fantastic column of black liquid. The flash also works well with the white plastic inside of the vessel.
Over the years, I have ordered my share of Amstels', Heinekins', Coronas'... you name it.
I grew up drinking Strohs', Blatz's, Carlings', Schaeffers and Lone Stars.
But as I contemplate a return to a diet of beans, chicken stew and cabrito, I'm also rediscovering my taste for simple pleasures.
Colt 45 Malt Liquor was a neighborhood favorite... But I'm in my 50s, so I don't do no 40s!

Orlando Brewing is the local beer. These hand-crafted organic ales and lagers are already available in select bars and restaurants across Central Florida. Many more are coming aboard. And, of course, you can always wet your whistle right here at the Tap Room.
Orlando Brewing is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. What does it mean to be organic? It means that ingredients used in crafting our ales are grown without insecticides, bioengineering, or irradiation.
Orlando Brewing brews in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. That means we use only natural, organic ingredients.

Rows of half-gallon beer kegs are ranked in an Alaska Brewing Co. storage area near the brewery's keg-filling area. With an estimated 60,000 kegs worth $120 to $130 per item, the brewery's investment in kegs is one of its largest capital costs. Don't bother trying to scrap them — they're made of stainless steel, not aluminum.
