There's a reminder of childhood in thick chunky bread toasted under the grill, spread quickly with butter and eaten while hot and crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle.
I can't cope with skinny wafers of toast air-dried in a rack - to me they're nothing more than cold and joyless carriers for marmalade.
If thin toast is sophisticated and adult, I shall happily remain a child.
This The Cat loved Bet's homemade bread, and she sat right with it, or on it, for the several days it took us to polish it all off. She never seemed to harbor a food-type love for it, just a stuffed animal-type affection. I think The Cat missed that loaf right up until the moment we got the next pizza box or whatever.
Promised my children that this winter we'll have more home-baked bread and more homemade soups.
Bought a Paul Hollywood bread book this week and this is the first recipe I've tried.
Going back to my roots with this one as my Dad was Irish :-)
Delicious bread, stuffed with cheesy goodness and artichokes. Get the recipe for this and other delicious foods on my website, Sweetnicks.
Quick garlic bread is an easy method to make oven toasted or skillet fried garlic bread with cheese and herbs. I thought of this way when I was making toasted cheese sandwich with olive oil and fresh thyme. This garlic bread recipe may require using thin, white bread instead of the common toast...
Actually about twenty crows including a number of young ones were yelling at each other over this piece of bread. Unfortunately, having all the birds in one shot did not make for a good photo.
Bread airing out in the Bakery at Fort Larned National Historic Site near Larned Kansas.
Fort Larned was established in 1859 and was moved to the present location in 1860. Fort was closed on March 26, 1883 when it was transferred to the General Land Office, U.S. Department of Interior. In 1884 the buildings and land were sold at public auction. For the next 80 years the property was in private hands. In August of 1964 Fort Larned became a national historic site and a unit of the National Park Service.
NRIS #66000107. Added in 1966.
Sometimes my supermarket shopping is uninspired. I am fairly well stocked up at home, so this was all I bought today.
I don't usually buy bottled water but I am preparing for a driving holiday next month.
Thème "bonne bouffe": Pouding au pain... n'est rien sans sirop d'érable!
"Good Food" theme: Bread Pudding... is nothing without maple syrup!
A recipe I cooked for the second time, today taking photos of the process.
