Holding some of Thuet's house baked breads, which, and I'm not afraid to say it, are some of the best in the city. :)
This sourdough bread offers a thick and crispy golden crust with a perfectly tangy wide-holed crumb hiding inside.

Adapted from a recipe posted by Floyd M. on The Fresh Loaf.
I used a mix of dried cranberries and currants, buttermilk instead of milk and very coarse polenta.
I blogged about it here: At Home In The Kitchen

Please mark your calendars! We have confirmed Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, as the day and time we clean up the stream in the section between Merritt Boulevard and Plainfield Road (next to Merritt Manor Shopping Center). We will be meeting at 2408 Plainfield Road in Dundalk. ANY time you can give to helping us out is more than appreciated
Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by 2014 in preparation for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bread and Cheese Creek has been noted as one of the possible highlighted location on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. Both the American and British Troops camped along its banks. It is rumored that the young heroes Daniel Wells (19) and Henry McComas (18) used the stream channel to sneak up on British General Robert Ross killing him with their muskets before being killed in return fire. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is.
Remember, there plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We will need every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the Clean Up. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we can use people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to work the grills as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. Please feel free to pass this information on to other who might be interesting in helping as well. As my grandfather always said, “Many hands makes the work light”. We run our cleanups as a family event with all age groups welcome by developing plenty of ways for volunteers to participate.
You can learn more about us through our website at: www.BreadandCheeseCreek.org; become our friend on FaceBook, Google+ or follow us on Twitter and/or join the Clean Break and Cheese Creek Group. You can also see photos of our past cleanups on Flickr and our videos on YouTube. You can also subscribe to out Electronic Newsletter.
If you have any comments or questions please contact us. Thank you again for your interest!
From the Basilica Santa Croce, we walked quite a ways to the restaurant. When we got there we split up between the two rooms that were reserved for our tour group and seated ourselves at tables that were already laid out with bread, water and wine.

Delicious and moist pumpkin spice bread. You can order a loaf of your very own by going to my bakery site: www.bearsbakedgoods.etsy.com
This was a popular and highly recommended pick by a number of magazines or reports I've read over the years, so needless to say this breadlover knew she had to stop by to see for herself. While the selection was more than impressive, the product artisan and available at consumer friendly prices, the breads were truly pedestrian. There just wasn't any character to the breads (re: flavour esp. with the levain based breads). The crumb was a little too stiff spongy soft, the crusts thin and slightly chewy (I like thick crackly). What I did find entirely pleasing was the texture of the laminated dough - multiple sheets that flaked off each other. It was neither greasy nor heavy, but it also wasn't very buttery fragrant. Either way, the visit wasn't entirely lost because the pastries were very nice.

On Saturday, October 29, 2011, the LGBT Alliance of Oil City had a fun Halloween Party at the Latonia Theatre, 1 East First St, Oil City PA. Everyone had a great time dancing and enjoying the fabulous costumes. Thanks go out to Jim for providing his artistic expertise and labor to decorate the ballroom, also to The Mosaic Cafe for donating a gift certificate as a prize, Anissa for the center pieces, wonderful cheeses and homemade bread and to Dixie for taking pictures. My sister made a braided loaf of wheat bread. It was soft & warm & delicious with the homemade vegetable soup my mom made! Yum! A very nice lunch on a cold day.
Here's a days worth of bread at the Abbey; a honey oatmeal, whole wheat ale bread and a walnut raisin, which I have been unhappy with the crust thus far
