Something a bit different for Sliders Sunday, and my first video on Flickr. This is a short(ish) taste of the Paphos Beer Festival in Cyprus I was lucky enough to enjoy last week. The backing track is the same music that was playing and I think I've just about lined it up correctly! Created in Studio Artist (animation effects) and Cyberlink PowerDirector. HSS!
We saw them for the first time this year on February 19th and since then, quite a few of them have come back. We’ll never tire of seeing these majestic birds!
Oh my ... babies in the Osprey nest! Two beautiful babies. I did better on this video (I hope you think so anyway!) so I'm sharing it!
To Him be the glory!

Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Gulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crabs and small fish. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. S20N_300

I’ve often mentioned my disappointment at the lack of maintenance in the park and the decline of many bird species that used to be seen here. Still, as it’s very close to my home, I continue to make quick visits to monitor any sightings.
My video/slideshow was recorded on my most recent visit. It’s always a pleasure to see the beautiful Red-crested Pochards, which I believe are only passing through. They were around 250 metres away, tucked into a corner, so I used the call from my Collins app to see if they might come out where I could see them from my hide. To my surprise, they swam all the way to the front of my hide!
I know some people feel strongly that using recorded calls is wrong. Personally, I use them very sparingly and with great discretion—never during the breeding season and never when there are many other species around that could be disturbed. Still, I’m always open to feedback, so feel free to share your thoughts on whether you think I’m doing anything wrong.
Guidelines for Using Playback (if used at all)
• Using recorded bird songs to attract birds is controversial.
• Playback can bring birds into view, but it may also stress them, especially during the breeding season.
• Birds may waste energy responding to what they think is a rival, ignore their young, or become habituated to fake calls.
• It’s particularly harmful for rare or sensitive species and in areas with lots of visitors.
Ethical Use
• Keep playback very brief and infrequent.
• Avoid it entirely in the nesting season.
• Stop immediately if a bird shows stress or agitation.
• Don’t use playback in busy birding locations.
• Whenever possible, rely on non-disturbing methods such as patience, blinds, and knowledge of bird behaviour.
Bottom line: Playback isn’t inherently unethical, but careless use can harm birds—so most experts recommend using it rarely, responsibly, and thoughtfully.
While it is technically still autumn, the weather outside is frightful and full of what winter has to offer - cold and snow.
This video shows a GGO going about its business of scanning for prey. This is the first 'snowy' owl I've seen this year. LOL

A hand when falling,
An embrace when cold,
A home when lost.
A beat when no heart left,
A wave when no mind left,
A sound when no voice left.
One note of a new thought,
One phrase of a new melody,
One song of a new life.
A new wave.
An old wave.
Embrace it.
Express it.

Playing around with how it would work for a machinima to try and make Apoch's arm modify itself into her canon....
