I took this video today on a bike ride around Loch Morlich and the I rode up to the ski centre. I wrote the music.

20 minutes ending at sunrise. Used Nikon d7100, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 @ f/4.0, iso 100 on auto exposure. With rapid brightening, some flickering can be seen but the pretty clouds and colors make up for any negative distraction.
I'd rate this sunrise as of 7 of 10.

My first video upload, just to put the photo shoot situation in perspective, I never thought I would upload it anywhere, I actually take phone videos like this most of the time (in the past 5 years more or less)

This time lapse used a Mission 1 Pro Gopro action cam. Exposures were limited to just 5 seconds with an ISO of 100. The clip ran from 8:47PM to 9:51PM when the rains finally arrived. It was the best night display of lightning this year and more is expected over the next two days as the monsoon surge continues. Stay tuned!
Wellington, Colorado, 35 miles distance to my south received 2.1 inches of rain while by the time the storm reached my house, it dissipated and I only received 0.11 inch.
My wife and I are celebrating 25 years of working together. As a husband and wife team, it hasn’t always been easy — but it’s been worth every moment. The long hours, hard work, and dedication have shaped not only our business, but our relationship.
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge all the other husband-and-wife business owners out there. It takes teamwork, patience, and a lot of love to build something together. Here’s to all of you out there who keep showing up, side by side, day by day, happy together.
BTW, Little "Gio" our teacup chihuahua has several cameos. I think all the exposure is giving him a larger than life ego. He just hired an agent!!!

This was shot over a few mornings - each of which began 40 minutes before sunrise in my blind, and shows a lot of the dynamics of Wood Ducks pairs and interaction between pairs.
The log is the center of their activity when they come in to feed - it's one of the nicest "gifts" I've ever gotten. My husband and I were back in the woods of our swamp during the drought this past fall, and I spotted this log. I knew immediately that it was one that our Wood Ducks would love, but what I didn't realize was how heavy it was. My husband hoisted it onto his shoulder and carried it back to the edge of the swamp for me. As the rains have returned and we have good water levels, I've had to move it to get it the right depth, and that's when I realized how heavy it really is.
When you see more than one Wood Duck on the log, they're a pair, unless they are at opposite ends, which seems to be just far enough for their comfort. Anytime one is on the log and another tries to get on it anywhere except the opposite end, the original "log occupier" goes after the "intruder."
Very few people ever get to see how affectionate Wood Ducks are, not to mention the sense of humor that the hens have.
