After forty-five minutes of flight, it's time to return to dry land. To brake the aircraft, it is necessary to activate the deflectors, which create an aerodynamic barrier on the wings. In addition, just before the approach, the pilot can perform a “glissade”, a kind of skid in the air that reduces altitude while maintaining low speed, ideal for little.

As it arrives on the runway at low speed, less than 70 km/h, the glider stops a few meters after touching the ground. The ability to make short landings is one of the requirements for obtaining a license to fly gliders. The pilot needs to prove that he is capable of performing a safe landing in a space 30 meters long. This experience is necessary in case the driver needs to make an emergency landing in remote regions.

The experience of flying aboard a glider is the purest and simplest concept of flight, the closest a man can get to being a bird. It is a mixture of peace, due to the almost absolute silence in the cabin due to the absence of an engine, with the excitement of flying.

Pico do Calçado is unofficially the fourth highest mountain in Brazil, with 2849 meters (9,347 ft) of altitude. It is also unofficially the second highest mountain in the states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, on whose border it is located.

The peak is located in the Caparaó National Park, on the border of the municipalities of Ibitirama (Espírito Santo) and Alto Caparaó (Minas Gerais). It is located in the highest block of Serra do Caparaó, less than 1 km in a straight line from Pico da Bandeira.

Until 2004, the altitude of the peak was quoted as being 2,766 meters, but during the Pontos Culminantes do Brasil Project, a more accurate GPS measurement confirmed the altitude as being 2,849 m.

Its access is via the trail that starts from Casa Queimada, on the Minas Gerais side, following the dividing ridge between the states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, and reaching its wide summit by "walk climbing" on the rock. From there, the trail continues towards Pico da Bandeira.

3 Spitfires lead 4 Hurricanes in a season finale flypast over Duxford.

There are two Mk.1a Spitfires and a Mk.Vb with clipped wings. The 'whistle' is characteristic of the Spitfire Mk.1 - something to do with the airflow over the radiators.

It's very quiet, so turn the volume up high. The commentator had the good sense to keep his mouth shut during the flypast.

Gigantisch was er auf 9m dort reinzieht.

A moose feeds in the shallow water at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, pulling vegetation from below the surface. I liked the slow, deliberate feeding behavior and the way the water helped separate the animal from the surrounding landscape. I recorded this short video with the OM System OM-3 during my Colorado trip. Video is something I use less often than still photography, but moments like this are a good reason to capture a few clips in the field.

Work life has been absolutely crazy, to say the least. But I did manage to get some drone flights in during my trips and take some photos.

Unfortunately, the year also came with a little collateral damage—I managed to lose two drones along the way. Apparently, gravity continues to be undefeated. 😂

I should have my new replacement drone over the next couple of months and, once I’m back in action, I’ve promised myself I’m going to take a couple weeks and really get out there and capture some cool drone shots.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the drone photography and footage. It's a pretty big break from all my crazy-ass AI videos, but every once in a while it's good to get back to actually flying something instead of telling AI what to do. 😂

Le massif du Parpaillon est une longue chaîne montagneuse, marquant la séparation entre l'Embrunais (Hautes-Alpes) et la vallée de l'Ubaye (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence).

A l'extrémité Ouest du Massif de Parpaillon, la tête de la Gipière, située à 2443 est le point culminant d'une longue crête qui converge vers les Vallées de l'Ubaye et de la Durance.

Ce petit sommet, à peine visible, emprunte des sentiers originaux et offre des points de vues magnifiques.

THIRD SECTION:

(Escalavrado Trail – Rope Climbing Throw)

This third stretch is very delicate! If it's dry, it's not difficult, but it requires a lot of attention because a fall in this part can cause a deadly fall on a ramp of many hundreds of meters / feet.

The rock forms a kind of natural channel with some crystal veins where participants climb by stepping and leaning on each other. When it's wet, which is very common, it certainly becomes much more delicate and dangerous. That's why our guides advised at least to attach a rope and make a "handrail" to help with balance and even then it is necessary to be very careful.

This is not a “joke” time.
