I spent the day down the woods fixing the nursery pump and had to walk past these old buildings. How this must have been 30 or 40 years ago.

Photo update taken on FRIDAY March 28, 2008 of the conversion and renovation of a shopping center to a Whole Foods Supermarket. Photos taken at sunset. The original front facade has now been removed. Lincoln and Rose in Venice, California.
The former SAFEWAY SUPERMARKET, which is to the left of CVS Pharmacy and 99 Cents Only Store which is located to the right of the former SAFEWAY Supermarket. Former SAFEWAY SUPERMARKET, converted to VONS in 1988 when VONS took over SAFEWAY SUPERMARKETS. VONS Supermarkets eventually closed this store and it became a Pick N Save, which the parent company later changed its Big Lots. This Big Lots location is now closed as indicated by the sign in the window. The lease for this former Big Lots has expired, and the store will be converting back to a supermarket. Whole Food Supermarket is taking over the Big Lots site as well as taking over the CVS Pharmacy next Store (former Savon Drug Store). The CVS is preparing to move and take over another location on the property, a former Kinney Shoe Store, that was converted by its parent company to a Foot Locker, which later closed. One of xx photos of this shopping center.
The 99 Cents Only Store replaced several shops that were originally located in the center. A little bit of trivia, a couple of years prior to the 99 cents only store arriving, Pep Boys was scheduled to take over the site with service bays in the back. The neighborhood threw a fit, kept modifying the plan until they decided not to move to this location, which was tucked away behind the original Kinney Shoes/Foot Locker building.
Finished store display female bust. I decided against the bump maps, I like the quippy dollness of how it looks without them. And doesn’t she look like Shirley Manson from Garbage? tehe That intense stare, I thought about mellowing the eyes out but then I thought no, I want it severe and very Shirley.
Photo of former Thrity Drug Store, now Rite Aid. Corner photo of the former Ralphs Supermarket, this is the photo of the former Thrity Drug Store, now Rite Aid. Rite Aid remodeled this store with their classic facade shortly after taking over the store. The former Ralphs, now Ross Dress for Less is to the right of the Rite Aid entrance. This shopping center is located at Vernon and Figueroa in Los Angeles, California. Southern California. It originally contained a SAFEWAY SUPERMARKET (per Los Angeles County Public Library records) At some point the store was taken over by Ralphs Supermarkets. It was operated as a Ralphs until 2005/2006, when the Ralphs store closed. Subsequently the store was emptied and turned into a Ross Dress for Less Store. Next to the former Ralphs was a drug store. It was a Thrifty Drug Store until it became a Rite Aid Pharmacy Drug Store. The Rite Aid Chain took over the the Thrifty PayLess Drug Store chain in or around 1997, converting all the acquired stores to Rite Aide Pharmacy Stores. To the right of the former Ralphs are a couple of small shops. One of XX photoes of this location.
This little store of the past was once the central meeting place for the farmers who live in the area where we currently live. There used to be two old gas pumps outside, but I guess some antique buff has removed them. There's not much left to see in Highbank, Texas anymore, just some ruins of what was once there, a few old silos, and three or four old houses, and this little store.
Thanks to playingwithbrushes and skeletalmess for the textures.

When inside Tibetans often wear their robes hanging off one sleeve (to cool down a bit), they often wear Western style jackets the same way.
The hat reads Mr. Pringles.
This is a better scan than I had up previously, also I have included a large size.
The location of the now gone Tompkins Dry Goods store in Middletown, NY. The store is gone, but the signage and clock frame remain.
Black Friday :The wife and I decided a little late in the afternoon to go (let) me get some shots of some things that have been on my list for a while. This old store sits right in a intersection almost. The light was a pain in my lens, Bright setting sun and dark shadows. These shots are not very good ,but the store is worth posting along with the story.
While I was shooting, a fine Gentleman from across the road came over and told us all about the store. How he rode his bike as a child here to buy candy and such.
But the best part, He says “you can go on down this road and take pictures of my old house if ya want” I thanked him and went on my way.
His old house. Wow! .I didn’t make it anywhere else. He failed to mention it’s a old breezeway house. and he keeps it looking like someone lives there.
Or…That there old cars, trucks, bus’s ,tractors……. .Jackpot!
I think I will call the next series “the Jackpot” series. I even went back the next day, for better light, and I was afraid I missed something. Ill get them posted as soon as I can.
