I met this man in one of the small hidden markets in Ankara. Unfortunately we could not communicate much but he was surprisingly friendly - not only did he let me take his photo but he also let me have a couple souvenirs from his store. Teşekkür!

Took this in Morgan City, Louisiana. I was standing on the levee. The downtown area has been renovated and has a lot of interesting old buildings, shops and restaurants. Nice place to visit. 3 shot HDR developed in Photomatix Pro, -2/0/+2. Slight grunge processing.

John Shillito & Co. (commonly known as Shillito's) was Cincinnati's first department store. It was founded by John Shillito (1809-1879) and William McLaughlin in 1830 as "McLaughlin & Shillito", but their partnership soon broke up. In 1857, Shillito, then operating on his own, built a store on Cincinnati's Fourth Street, designed by James W. McLaughlin, the son of his former partner. In 1878, Shillito's moved to a new landmark building on Race and Seventh streets, also designed by James McLaughlin. The fashionable new store had eight floors, five elevators, over 800,000 sf of space, and employed over 1000 people.[1]
After the 1925 death of John's son and successor, Stewart Shillito, Shillito's was sold to the F&R Lazarus Co. in 1928, which became a founding partner in Federated Department Stores a year later.
In several ways, Shillito’s became the first department store to embrace the African-American community. In 1946 it was the nation’s first department store to give credit to African-Americans, as well as employ them as salespeople and executives. The store’s restaurant was the first in downtown Cincinnati to serve African-American customers.
Nixon's General Store and Deli in Tabernacle, N.J.. Built in 1850 by Henry Peters to serve the people of the Pine Barrens. Purchased by the Nixons in 1956 and reopened in 1962 after being closed a number of years. Great sandwiches!
July 18, 2013;
Today I woke up at 8:30 and replied to a comment on a photo I had on my Facebook and then I went back to sleep and slept again until 10:30.
I literally laid in bed until 12 when Mom got home for her lunch break. Then we went and checked on my aunt and uncle's cat since they are on vacation. Then by the time we go that done it was basically time for her to go back to work. I made that my time to make myself go to the grocery store to get the rest of what was needed for dinner tonight.
After going to the grocery store I stopped at Subway and got an Italian B.M.T. on Honey Oat bread, even though I ate that exact same thing (different bread) last night for dinner. I seriously have a problem!
I didn't do too much after I got home, then at 4:15 I started dinner. We had sticky chicken which consists of your choice of chicken (we like to use boneless skinless chicken breasts) with russian salad dressing, a package of onion soup mix and a cup of apricot preserves. Then it cooks at 400 degrees for an hour. We served it over wild rice with a salad on the side, it was really good!
I decided to go lay on my bed after dinner because I was really full and I ended up sleeping for about 25-30 minutes before waking up and thinking that I needed to take a picture for the day.
I then remembered the bird's nest that I photographed earlier on in this 365 and wondered if there perhaps might be any eggs left in it even after they hatched. Sure enough there was one single on in there! It was the cutest little egg so small i just couldn't resist taking a picture of it!
That was my complete day though, I really am not that exciting.

This store touted itself as a place that sold junk. Situated, as it was, in the touristy olde-town, the junk they sold was not priced like junk.
It had some interesting things inside, but ultimately the most interesting thing was what happened there.
I picked up a couple of photographs I wanted to purchase and a woman asked me if I was ok and needed help finding anything. I told her I was OK but she kept following me around and showing me things in the store I could buy. She spoke to me in portugeuse but pantomimed that she had a baby by squeezing her breast to show me that milk was seeping through her dress.
Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to buy the photos I had picked up so I gave her the $2 they would cost but she told me they cost $3 more than that. I told her I didn't want them for that price, but a friend I was with said "It's ok, I owe you money anyhow" and paid the difference.
Wanting to just get away we left, but were followed out of the store by another woman, who asked why we hadn't paid for the items we had in our hands. We informed her that we paid the other woman and the owner told us that woman didn't work there. The woman who had taken the money exclaimed that I gave her the money and she would keep it. A few local men who were walking by came over to investigate and everything was explained. While this was happening the woman who had taken my money began talking quickly in Portugeuse and pulled out her bare breast and gave it a squeeze, spraying breast milk onto the sidewalk. The men told her they would call the police and she walked away nearly in slow-motion with my money in her hand.
The store-owner apologized and refused to accept my money for the pictures I had tried, and failed, to purchase.
Though they cost me double what I had intended to pay, I learned a lesson about not giving money to lactating women who don't work in the stores I am shopping in.
When we told other locals this story they knew exactly the woman we were talking about and said it was an old trick.

Since Mr Chiots is a new hunter, he needs a few things. Yesterday we headed down to Cabela’s in West Virginia with my parents to look around and pick up a few hunting supplies.
It’s a fascinating store, even if you’re not into hunting. They have all kinds of sporting goods from camping and fishing, to grilling and home sausage making supplies. They have all kind of animal scenes from around the world and a huge walk-through aquarium. It’s a lot like going to a natural history museum. They also have a white-tail deer exhibit featuring many award winning deer. We ate in their cafe, which features a lot of different game (we had elk burgers for lunch).
