I always enjoy finding these lovely and idiosyncratic birds. Their coffee grinder calls and the flitting habits make them enjoyable to encounter.
I got an ancient pain, I lost my wings and fell to Earth again. I wouldn’t stay in my golden cage, so I gave up everything.
I can't stop procrastinating... I really should be doing my homework.
On another note, Gong Xi Fa Cai to those who celebrate it!
The restlessness and the longing, like the longing that is in the whistle of a faraway train. Except that the longing isn't really in the whistle—it is in you.

"Will she be there?" I wondered to myself for the 5th time. Changing yet another outfit, once again unsure of whether or not I was satisfied with the image looking back at me in the mirror. "And if she does show up, what will you say?" The sarcastic side of me sneered almost. Lord knows, I haven't always been great with finding just the right words. As it was, I only hoped she noticed my promoting the event, I'd forgotten to actually send her a personal invite.

my first video, yo

Low clouds drifting over Mt Tongariro, timed perfectly with the sunrise.
Mt Ngauruhoe Sunrise Climb, Summer 2015.
I uploaded a similar shot back in October, with a wider view of these rocks and the castle. But I think I prefer this one, which was taken zoomed in slightly and with a faster shutter speed.

Restless Flycatcher (Myiagra inquieta) in the forest on an overcast day in central Victoria, Australia. On first hearing this bird's distinctive calls, I followed the sound, and came across this Restless Flycatcher fluttering at about eye-level, looking for insects on the forest floor; it was great to watch. I crouched down to make myself appear smaller to the bird, and it landed on this fallen branch close to me, before eating a 50c-piece-sized black spider whole. This image was taken a few seconds after.
I have seen this bird in the summer months at this location, but never in the winter. It was a great surprise.
I was recently introduced to the work of Australian Photographer Olive Cotton. Here I offer this homage from my local reed beds, but it's her words that will resonate with many of us.
“Light brings a subject to life. That’s the main thing about all my photographs, the light no matter what it’s of. That’s what draws me to take a photograph.”
After posting one of my favourites from Tremenheere Sculpture Garden today (see previous post >>), it reminded me of another favourite which only works as a video, as it moves.
The video starts slowly and get exciting about halfway through.

Pretty good activity in the waves at Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, California. Tourists were getting wet.
Hyacinth風信子is the Theme Flower of Hong Kong Flower Show 2012.
This photo shows one way in which I perceive its beauty, particularly with its glow under natural light (actually cloudy that morning:-), and its being a little messy (thus the name restless). I hope you like it!
(Uploaded as taken, without post-processing or even cropping)
雖然風信子是今年花展的主題花,但比較少它的照片放上網。其實我覺得它是非常優美呢。
This is the second of the pair of London images. Opted for a lot shorter exposure on this one this to be able to catch some outlines of people on the bridge and show just a touch of movement in the restless sky.
I wanted to do the same with this one, as the previous and make sure that I caught no technology which, I hope, will allow the viewer to be able to place the image in any period of history, be it now or in yester-year.
Thanks for looking, feedback is always appreciated.
