July 18, 2023 The Hill Live brings together caregivers, patients, clinical experts, and lawmakers to answer these questions and more as we discuss the fight against Alzheimer’s and breakthroughs in providing relief to those who suffer from agitation and aggression.

Alzheimer’s disease affects about 55 million people worldwide, including 6.5 million Americans, and has no cure. Some patients with Alzheimer’s sometimes show signs of extreme aggression or become restless and anxious as their brains lose the ability to negotiate with new stimulus.

Agitation is a common neuropsychiatric symptom in Alzheimer’s dementia and one of the most complex and stressful aspects of caring for people living with the condition. It is reported in approximately half of people with Alzheimer’s dementia and is associated with earlier alternative living placement.

What do patients, caregivers and families navigating the complexities of agitation associated with Alzheimer’s need to know? How are researchers and doctors better understanding risk factors and diagnoses? What policy actions can prioritize research, detection and treatment? And what are the access considerations for patients and their caregivers as they navigate this difficult symptom?

Over the years, Drake has had many restless nights. Ever since his childhood, he’s been a victim of insomnia, often being kept awake by his anxious and depressing thoughts. Even when things are good in his life, he still finds it hard to get any rest—oftentimes getting caught up in his contentment to let his mind settle down, as even his happiness is something he can’t help but overthink about.

However, this time, that isn’t the case. Lately, Drake has been dealing with feelings of guilt, anxiety, longing, and confusion—brought about by issues much different from the stressors of his past. These issues feel more present—hauntingly so—because it’s not just for himself that Drake worries; it’s also for the two people he loves so deeply—ones he keeps very close to his heart—one of which who’s sleeping right beside him, blissfully unaware of his mental turmoil. He’s afraid of being the one to hurt them both, and in a way, he feels he’s deserving of his restlessness.

This is a beautiful male Dickcissel that was caught in one of our bobwhite traps at Peabody WMA in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

This was obviously an oops, but I played around with it anyways and thought it turned out kinda cool?!?! © Natural Perspectives Photography. All Rights Reserved. Use without permission is illegal and prohibited.

One of two, or maybe three images from St. Mary's Island this afternoon. (To tell the truth I actually got quite a few good shots which is no mean feat as I was out with the family in tow).

This shot shows the waves at their tamest, there were one or two real big ones giving me cause for concern and potentially giving the kids cause for laughter.

The Restless Flycatcher also goes by the moniker of Scissor Grinder due to it's distinctive call. This is the first clear view I have had of this type of bird and hopefully not the last.
