I'm ready to take a break from waycars for a bit. In any event, I upgraded my Athearn waycar for a more detailed Walthers version with circus city full side weathered decals. Honestly, I don't think it was worth all the work and time poured into it (considering how many better projects remain unfinished) but I did learn a lot. A cold and breezy morning with temp -9C and windchill -17C…
A friend of mine is doing an alaska calandar for Christmas presents this year. He's a great photographer but didnt have an eagle shot in this orientation that he really liked. So I dug around and found this one. He fell in love with it and now wants several prints at 11x14. Started out doing a favor and ended up making some nice bucks.
Friends Im working a mass amount of hours so Im not getting to your threads as often as I would like.
It is a rare occasion for me to manage to capture a photo of a bird that is one of the more ubiquitous Australian native types that are quite common in our area. When we were down at Tinchi Tamba Wetlands a few weeks ago, I spotted these little beauties flirting around in the undergrowth. No hope of catching one I thought but, amazingly I did although it really needed some cropping to get in tighter. It was quite a way into the scrub.
Thanks to my Flickr friends who identified this little one as a Red-Browed Finch.

What must be Berlin's largest teddy bear. "Fynn" by Steiff is 4 meters (13 feet) tall, and can be found at the atrium of the LP12 Mall of Berlin on Leipziger Platz. I had to stand right in front of Fynn, because the comfy chairs placed right at Fynn's "paws" were all occupied by tired Christmas shoppers. The Mall opened in September 2014 and is Berlin's second biggest shopping mall. This December I visited it for the very first time, together with Sabine.R, on a photowalk. Taken with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm ultra wide-angle lens.
Steiff is one of Germany's most renowned manufacturers of stuffed toys / plush animals. It was founded in 1880 by Margarete Steiff, who designed and made most of the prototypes of her plush animals herself. Steiff's nephew Richard, who joined the company in 1897, invented the teddy bear in 1902. By 1907 Steiff had already manufactured and sold 974,000 teddy bears, the output continues to increase to this day, and Steiff plushies are sold worldwide. The Steiff company motto is "Only the best is good enough for children."

Der vermutlich größte Teddybär Berlins. Vier Meter hoch ist "Fynn" und sitzt im Atrium der LP12 Mall of Berlin. Ich habe direkt vor Fynn gestanden (stehen müssen), weil sämtliche Sessel zu seinen "Tatzen" von erholungssuchenden Weihnachtsbummlern belegt waren, und die wollte ich nicht mit auf dem Bild haben. Fynn ist ein echter "Steiff-Knopf-im-Ohr-Bär" ;-)
Aufgenommen mit dem Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm Ultraweitwinkel bei einem Fotospaziergang mit Sabine.R, der uns erst in die Mall of Berlin führte, dann auf's Park Inn und anschließend zum Weihnachtsmarkt am Alexanderplatz, zum Dom und als Abschluss zu Spree und Reichstagsgebäude.

This week we celebrate the one year anniversary since "Katie Caboose" was brought to Galiano Island. Much progress has been made, but even more awaits!
The caboose was brought to Galiano Island from the Okanagan last November and was given a new life. She currently looks like new after a fresh paint job provided by my partner in crime, my Dad. And then, one year.
365 days (ok, I’m cheating, not all of them) in a new country, with a new language, new culture, new people.
I've left my house for many reasons, I’m happy and sad at the same time. I can’t believe I did it. Me?! But, yes, I’m here.
Every day is a war, it’s a new challenge. I feel happy, excited, lonely, sad, desperate, motivated. I miss so much my family, my friends, my sea, my.. food.
This time gave me time to think, to know me, and I’m brave, I’m strong. Some days I want to go back home, but inside me I know I can’t be happy as I can be here.
I’m so glad for everything, I’m so lucky, I've had awful experiences as well as good, but it’s life. I’m opening my mind, I'm discovering a wonderful place.
I’m glad for every smile that I've had, for every tear. I’m glad to become who I am. Not a new me, I was hidden, but day by day I’m coming out.
My life is going to change again in a few months, and I’m scared, but positive, ready as always. I don’t know anything about my future, I have only to wait and see.

Among photographers, there's this adage that you should look in back of your camera, not just in front. That was the case here. While photographing beautiful Convict Lake at night, I looked in back. This is the northern part of the Milky Way, the part that photographers routinely ignore. But I personally think it's beautiful, gazing at the ancient light from the "arm" our Milky Way that began its journey 26,000 years ago. As a bonus, you can also see the Andromeda galaxy. I say yessss! Convict Lake, CA, named for a group of convicts that escaped from Carson City, NV and were eventually cornered at the lake by locals. It's also one of our favorite places to kayak.
