My hubby is Italian and loves to eat almost anything Italian. For a special Valentine dinner I made homemade Gnocchi with meat sauce. Both are easy to make, just time consuming. Oh, and a fruit crisp for dessert.
I made this Persian lute using a locally grown gourd. It is fretless with nylon strings and the nut and bridge were carved from bone purchased at the local pet store. I used a wood burning pen to burn the decorative vines on the top. The pegs are wooden dowels sanded down to fit the peg holes.
Two homemade American Sandwitch Bread loaves from the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day book. The larger is a 2lb loaf, the smaller a 1 1/2 lb loaf.
This is our new favorite soft sandwich bread, though I still like the standard crusty loaf. The main difference in the recipe over the crusty loaf is the addition of butter and a bit of sugar.
I got tired of the grey line behind all the wee "Bobs" so I headed out in search of supplies on the cheap to build a little box. It's not quite done yet in this photo but close. I got a big toilet paper box free at the grocery, spent 6 dollars on daylight bulbs, two utility clamp-on lamps at the hardware store for 12 dollars and .79 cents for tissue paper. I'll have a play in the next few days and see if I can get the light right. I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination but maybe this will help.
I built that table today too from an old closet door and galvanised plumbing pipe for legs :o)

My first time making homemade pasta. Fettuccine, cookie cutout shapes, goat cheese ravioli. Recipe inspiration here: thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/05/homemade-pasta/, except I used two cups Bob's red mill unbleached white flour, 1 cup Bob's semolina, and 6 eggs. My son and husband loved the shapes and fettuccine, and I enjoyed the ravioli. Easy and fun, will make again!

Yay! it works!
Well actually, it doesn't.
Yet.
I've put in the viewfinder (as you can see), and the film compartment is (mostly) lightproof. But the shutter remains just out of my reach. Any ideas? Anyone?
