The view south from Friendly Beaches with the Cape Tourville lighthouse on the left and the Hazards in the centre. The beaches form part of the Freycinet National Park on the east coast of Tasmania.

Canvasback (Aythya valisineria)

This was a very friendly Canvasback, swimming and diving close to the wharf.
At RSPB Ham Wall after a 3 hour wander and nothing spotted, this little one joined us in the car park.
Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
I see this hawk often on this same branch in this same tree in my neighborhood.

This old man was resting in his village near Bagan when I - together with 8 other tourists entered a village where pottery is made by handcraft. Well, I personally don't like to step through the backyards of foreign people. That’s why I kept myself a bit in the background. We made some photos from handcrafting women and finally the group bumped into this old man while he was resting. Everybody just ran to him trying to get a picture of him. But he just turned around showing to us that he is not interested. I just kept off from all the others and walked around. But suddenly, when all the others have left already he turned to me and smiled. I showed him my camera and he showed me to come closer. So we took some photos and after this “shooting” I paid my model with two dollars. We shook hands and left as friends…
Just processed in Adobe Camera Raw. No editing alterations. This fellow stood next to me through our run up this fjord. He had a Sony full frame camera and a Sony 70-200 lens. I enjoyed a conversation about photography as we both aimed for nice pics. He tended to shoot upward at the scenes while I tried to stay level most of the time (as shown here).

Most people think spiders are pretty creepy. I'm generally not too worried by them but when I found this monster Tarantula in the garden, I didn't expect to be confronted by another one in my car later on!
The wonders of a computer. I have been in contact with a wonderful lady in Sacramento, California who saw a photo of what was once her mother's home in Friendly, West Virginia that I shot a while ago. In turn, she sent me a photo of the same house taken in 1901. The house was originally built in 1895 for Alfred T. Smith, her grandfather. Her mother is the youngest, shown in the first photo, holding a doll (that she still has). Even looking at the house in ruin, you can tell that it was a magnificent place. I had no 'real' idea until I saw the photo that she sent.
I had posted several photos of the old home since my first visit in 2009. I am extremely grateful to Becky Cole who provided me with the 1901 photo and the background of her family and owned this before the Dr. Eddy family took possession. The photo on the right was taken this past March.
