Nowruz (Persian: نوروز Nowruz, [nouˈɾuːz]; literally "new day") is the Iranian New Year,[17][18] also known as the Persian New Year,[19][20] which is celebrated worldwide by various ethno-linguistic groups.
Despite its Iranian and Zoroastrian origins, Nowruz has been celebrated by diverse communities. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in Western Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, and the Balkans.[21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] It is a secular holiday for most celebrants that is enjoyed by people of several different faiths, but remains a holy day for Zoroastrians,[30] Bahais,[31] and some Muslim communities.[32][33]
Nowruz is the day of the vernal equinox, and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It marks the first day of the first month (Farvardin) of the Iranian calendar.[34] It usually occurs on March 21 or the previous or following day, depending on where it is observed. The moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year, and families gather together to observe the rituals.

I am pleased to see this robin in the neighbourhood as by looking at his colours and patterns I can see he is a local robin who has returned from his hols. LOL Yesterday for the first time in months I spotted a pied wagtail, birds I would normally see all through the year.

Our little friendly garden Robin.. She’s so cute.. We call her ‘she’ but not sure if it’s male or female. We’ve been feeding her each day throughout the cold Winter.. Don’t know if it’s the same Robin from last year or how she survived in such freezing temperatures.
We have two Robins in our garden at the moment, the other Robin is a lot smaller, so don’t know if it’s a mate or one of her young… although she doesn’t seem happy about sharing her food with them.

Russian people seem to be cold. But this reputation is wrong. As soon as ice is broken they become very friendly a like to help you.

Wisconsin calls itself "The Badger State" in memory of the miners who settled in it.
Ran across this white stallion on a Southern Ute Reservation backroad. He was just a short distance off the road so I stopped, whistled and called to him. He trotted right up and stuck his head inside my window. I let him smell me a bit then scratched his ears which he seemed to enjoy. You meet new friends in the strangest places.

Yes, I had to pick him up to turn him into the sun for a better picture. Also to move him off the road after the photo op. I like to treat all creatures respectfully.
The Carolina wrens often put on quite a show for us, not just on the set up, but, also, in the vines, trees and bushes around the wooded area behind the house.
