Coots are fairly common in NJ, but they are usually also hard to get good shots of - exposure is tough, particularly with their anti-photography shields (or is that just me), and getting close is tougher. But in Vancouver, they were a whole lot friendlier - I guess it's something in the water up there.

Brother and sister in front of the pirahna's from Brazil. The boy said to his sister that these fish were very friendly. I thought so too, because of the smile on their face, but no, these big pirahna's are very very dangerous.
Why This Photo Is Meaningful to Me: While I was stationed in the Azores, I was upset with how cows were chained down to graze a small area, but pleased to see this small family wandering between fields. It was a happy moment for me.
