This little fellow added some colour to the winter landscape in Ojibway Nature Preserve near Windsor, Ontario. I believe it's an American Tree Sparrow

I nearly forgot this photo of a young robin who kept us company while gardening in our park last summer, we were finding so many worms that he had a very good deal, no wonder he stayed close.

A great wind swept over the beach, carrying away the smile...

But when the wind dropped people saw it had been only a little breeze friendly.......

Don't let the friendly fire fool you...as soon as the sun kissed the peaks goodnight the temperature dropped significantly. I had to Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah down the mountain to the cabin where the there was a real friendly fire waiting for me. I feel blessed to see views like this. It will be a sad day when I lose the courage to climb these peaks and enjoy it with my own eyes (I never see any old people up here) so for now, I will suck all the Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah out of it. LOL Exactly how I saw it with my back up camera.

Here's a fun shot. As I was walking past the dock at Eagles Lake, I saw an alligator slowly cruising through the water towards to dock. As I knew he often sunned himself there, I prepared myself to catch him lifting up. I was able to click off several shots. I think this is the best one. Actually, he was coming out to meet me and say hello. See him smile in anticipation!

My lawn must have too many insects; this guy is a frequent visitor. Zoom in.

What makes the BrewCycle a fun experience is everyone smiles and waves at everybody. It's as if you're in a parade and the entire city treats it as such. Plus, I can imagine it's good exercise, too.

Happy Monochrome Monday, everyone!

We found this little guy and his brother and sisters in our woodpile. This is the 4th time we have had a feral or neighbor cat lay their kittens in our yard. Not sure what to do about this. They sure are cute though! HMBT & HSoS!

This was a fairly young one but really friendly. Born during one of the lockdowns so not really used to visitors but followed us up and down the fence and also pecked at the camera lens hoods where he left his slobber marks lol

Week 50/52

Brown squirrel: You know, you shouldn't do drugs..

Black squire: No no no, I just fell into the snow OvO

Brown squirrel: Sure you did..

I couldn't resist :D

I caught this during a walk in the woods and at this spot I noticed these two squirrels. I had just enough time too take a photo of them both on my left and on my right :)

Thanks for your comments and support guys :)

Cheers

Close to the station at the Nature Reserve, a pair of Common Black Hawks was building a nest while we were there. I still find it quite surprising to see such a black bird in a tropical climate zone (not the only species, if you think of black vultures or other vultures for that matter). They have developed a number of behavioral adaptations to dealing with heat - panting, staying in the shadow when perched and roosting, panting to dissipate heat, drooping their wings, and I also read they actively provide shade for their eggs to protect them from direct sunlight.

One of my good friends at Lake Alexandra in Mittagong.

This little good girl followed me around when I was out with my camera till I took a picture of her.. she insisted. Least I can do is dedicate my ‘picture a day’ to her.

I've discovered that most Thai people like having their picture taken especially if you ask them nicely in Thai. Then you get a bigger smile and a wave because it is so unexpected!
