Mizoram is a picturesque destination for the perceptive visitor with its wide display of dances & festivals, handlooms and handicrafts, flora and fauna, breathtaking natural beauty and temperate climate. The general belief is that the Mizos migrated from China about three hundred years ago, in search of new territory and settled in these remote hills which were earlier known as Lushai Hills.

The term ‘Mizo’ is deriving from two words- ‘Mi’ means man and ‘Zo’ means hills. Today Mizoram consist of a population of over five Lakh who identify themselves as ‘Mizo’.

The Mizos are friendly and hospitable.

The people are simple, happy, carefree, contented, generous and freedom-loving.

Music plays a key role in uniting and strengthening the bond between the Mizo people. The joyful enthusiasm and companionable spirits of the common people have truly made them the real songbirds of this exotic hill station.

Sorry about not commenting etc lately..........mother is still in hospital and im over there visitng almost every day trying to get things put into place as regards after-care, its a nightmare of admin-crap, im very surprised at the lack of care in our NHS, they only seem interested in how much money she has put away and the worth of the house.

I was walking on one of Columbia’s footpath when this woman struck a pose and waved. She actually wanted her picture taken even though she’d never see it. We got to talking about the beauty of the woods, and she told me she grew up in a city and never appreciated nature until she moved to Columbia and began walking the paths through the woods. What a friendly woman she was. And she had a really cute little dog.

Which will sell better at the Farmer’s Market this week: apples or pumpkins? It’s hard to say, but the competition will motivate both girls to be better sales persons!

These Blythe dolls are Devi Delacour and Cloud 9 Bowl, posing for 30 Days of Apples in the Blythe Pure and Simple group on Facebook. The pumpkin truck came from Target last year. The cute helmets came from an Etsy seller who is no longer active (Poppy Tree Lane).

This image looks head-on at P158 Mysing, a Hugin-class guided-missile patrol boat. It was taken in the summer of 1985 off the-then Soviet port of Liepaya in what was is now Latvia. A group of three Hugins cruised past us whilst we loitered off the port.

The Hugins were 150-ton, 35-knot guided-missile patrol boats that could carry up to six Penguin surface-to-surface missiles (Swedish RB-12s) - a container for one can just be seen aft on the port side (the squared-off pyramid nose). Mounted on the bow was a 57mm gun, with rails strapped on either side of it for 103mm rocket flare launchers.

Visible low on the bow forward of the gun are four nine-barrel Elma ASW-600 multiple grenade launchers. These fire 5.5kg grenades designed to penetrate a submarine's hull and thus sink it, in the least lethal manner (according to Swedish advertising!). The grenades fire shaped charges that the Swedes claim were capable of penetrating even the inner hull of a double-hulled submarine. The initial system had a range of 300m and was upgraded to reach a range of 500m. The grenades could be fired in patterns of nine, 18, 27 or 36 grenades in a salvo and could be used in very shallow water (less than 10m depth, presumably for use against midget submarines).

Each Hugin was 36.5m long, 6.2m in the beam and had a draught of 1.6m. They were manned by three officers and 19 men. Surprisingly, their diesel engines were retreads, having been taken from the earlier Plejad-class torpedo boats.

Mysing was retired in 1995 after 15 years's service.

I took this from aboard HMS Boxer. The image has been scanned from a B&W negative.

Johnsons Coaches of Henley-in-Arden are a smart and friendly independent operator. They operate a fleet of between 50 and 100 buses and coaches, and maintain these to a high standard. Drivers are polite, friendly and proud of their work, as seen here by one of the company's drivers.

Johnsons' SN58 FWL is seen departing the Meon Vale housing development while operating a 3 towards Stratford-upon-Avon. The 3 operates up to every hour between Lower Quinton and Stratford, with one bus in each direction per day going to Shipston-on-Stour. SN58FWL was new in February 2009 to Whites Coaches, Shetland Islands. After leaving them, it was acquired by Johnsons to operate along side four other examples of the vehicle type (two 13 and two 63 plates). It is a Scania K230UB/Scania OmniLink.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - On the road to Courthouse and Jail Rock I stopped to photograph these horses in the evening light. They were very friendly, walking right up to the fence as soon as they saw me.

Proof that farmers are a friendly bunch.

Let's all be friendly.

This is my friendly neighbour who likes to pop his head over the wall and watch what´s going on!

When they saw me coming, these two ravens happily settled on my car door.

Probably the most common warbler around south FL in the fall and winter. Several other warblers have similar coloring, but the Palm distinguishes itself with its constant tail pumping and preference to feed on the ground. Their small, loose groups are often quite friendly, even tame as they are away from their breeding grounds. The yellow underparts place this bird in the yellow or eastern group.

A couple of friendly goats at PIGS Animal Sanctuary.

For the first time since I started tracking the via rail trains, I saw one that was on time. The operators gave a friendly horn and wave. This westbound via consists of via 6440 (F40PH-3) and 6407 (F40PH-3).
