More shots from my visit to my friend Mrs Warren's farm. Here is one of two farm dogs. This is the older one, who is reallty friendly (the younger one isn't to be trusted). I was taking shots of the pigs from a kneeling position when this dog snuggled up alongside me for a fuss, making me jump!
friendly, on top of his game. seemed to possess that wisdom one must acquire from dealing with cloned tourists, day in, day out. i thanked him and got off. but then i felt his hand on my arm and he was saying "no you don't, now you're my prisoner". a miserable directory of self-defense tactics scrolled thru my brain and while i knew it was easy enough to bolt, i decided the first step was to fake it and pretend he wasn't scaring the caeser salad out of me. i joked with one of those smiles that uses all the wrong muscles. the evils of the phrase "law suit" danced before my eyes. i wondered where my kids were. then he said "you're on the wrong floor". and i got back on.
a side note: mark is extremely sweet and damned good at his job, and i hope he still has one after the big guys move in.

(Please excuse the roughness on my finger as I just finished scraping and painting the front stoop.)
Usually, I prefer a nice, plain background for a shot like this, but I was out of luck on 7 November 2013. Saw this little Red-breasted Nuthatch male when I went with friends for a birding walk in the Bow Valley Ranche and Burnsmead areas of Fish Creek Park.
No Contacts' new photos have appeared on my home page in the last 5 hours - apparently, others are having this problem, too.

This old man was resting in his village near Bagan when I - together with 8 other tourists entered a village where pottery is made by handcraft. Well, I personally don't like to step through the backyards of foreign people. That’s why I kept myself a bit in the background. We made some photos from handcrafting women and finally the group bumped into this old man while he was resting. Everybody just ran to him trying to get a picture of him. But he just turned around showing to us that he is not interested. I just kept off from all the others and walked around. But suddenly, when all the others have left already he turned to me and smiled. I showed him my camera and he showed me to come closer. So we took some photos and after this “shooting” I paid my model with two dollars. We shook hands and left as friends…
Whenever I take my dog a walk I take a bag of bird food with me,this little Robin is always waiting and will perch about 2ft away .
The wonders of a computer. I have been in contact with a wonderful lady in Sacramento, California who saw a photo of what was once her mother's home in Friendly, West Virginia that I shot a while ago. In turn, she sent me a photo of the same house taken in 1901. The house was originally built in 1895 for Alfred T. Smith, her grandfather. Her mother is the youngest, shown in the first photo, holding a doll (that she still has). Even looking at the house in ruin, you can tell that it was a magnificent place. I had no 'real' idea until I saw the photo that she sent.
I had posted several photos of the old home since my first visit in 2009. I am extremely grateful to Becky Cole who provided me with the 1901 photo and the background of her family and owned this before the Dr. Eddy family took possession. The photo on the right was taken this past March.
I spotted the Beavers again at the Jackman Wetlands. It was nice to see them again but there is was only two visible today. The shorebird population has diminished, only Killdeer and Yellowlegs were visible and fewer than a couple days ago.

This year, jellyfish have been a plague - little pink ones, with long tendrils - that burn. At times, the sea was pink with them in places.
But these bigger ones do no harm! Aren't they beautiful!
