It was raining hard by noon, so we were soaked by the time we got back to the cabin. We took off our wet things and took a glorious nap, then had to figure out how to cook supper. We had just enough cover on the porch to do it.
I can't believe how much I enjoy cooking at a camp site. But I absolutely love it. I love planning the meals, thinking about how I'm going to do it all with a single burner, and I like how I've mastered cooking on a back packing stove. I ROCK.

Beef is the basis of this soup. I think fish sauce is added to this. It is then brought to the boil and simmered with vegetables.
I was cooking dinner and realized that this could be a good idea for the shape assignment. I was alone at my apartment at the time so I relied on the timer on my camera. I was unhappy with how the focus was on this shot and was wondering if there was any way the focus can be improved while using the timer feature.
John stuffed the crust with the feta, asiago, and parmesan, and put a little of that everywhere under the sauce. He also put basil, garlic and olive oil over all of the crust.
Sourdough Pizza Dough
1 1/2 cups sourdough starter, room temperature*
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1 1/2 cups bread flour
1. Preheat oven to 500°F.
2. Mix starter, 1 tbsp olive oil, salt, and flour together in a mixing bowl until it blends and forms a ball (add more or less flour to adjust consistency; if you get it too dry just add a little more starter).
3. Allow dough to rest for about 30 minutes (don't look for it to rise, just to get the dough where it is easier to roll).
4. Roll out mixture on parchment paper or a lightly floured surface until it fits the size of your pan, turning the dough as you roll (if you want a more even circle).
5. Top as desired and cook until browned and cheese is melted.
Drafts for the strobist cooking assignment.
Speedlight fired through a small hole in card from the back, fill light from the right is a desklamp through a pillowcase. Occasional third light is a keyring led torch (secondary shadows in top-right and upper line of speculars in the leaning egg cup on the bottom row).
There is no fill in the top-left. In the top-right the pillow case was just hung over a chair, hence the abrupt stop on the front of the nearer cup. For the bottom row i hung a couple of pillow cases over a clothes horse, which evened things out, but i don't think it's bright enough.
I resisted the urge to boost these in photoshop. Will hopefully reshoot at the weekend.
