Here again a comparison. Left Bergheil with 135mm heliar, right with Proxar 2. A light wide-angle effect. However, little movements are possible. Very fast vignetting.

This comparison should answer some of the questions I have received about the differences between the TBLeague/Phicen body and other Fashion Dolls!
The TBLeague stands between a Color Infusion and Victoire doll!

comparison between a 12mm glass eye (brown) and a 13-14mm acrylic (blue)
The 14mm has roughly the same iris size, but it's set further back on the eyewell because it can't fit as nicely.
A couple of comparison photos between the Shanghai Disney Limited Edition Snow White 17 inch doll (2016) and the original Disney Store Snow White LE 17 inch doll (2009). The Shanghai doll photos are from eBay (slightly cropped) and the DS doll photos are by me of my doll.
- Keefer Lake, Ontario, Canada -
As I post this I am downloading 500 photos or so from our 'fall colour road trip' to Algonquin Park, Ontario. If you haven't heard of this park - many say it is the premier place in all of Canada for viewing fall colours and I think they might be right based on our experience over the past few days. We were lucky to be there when the colours were at their absolute peak and I am looking forward to sifting through the images over the next while and posting a few that are worthy.
This humble shot of a monocoloured tree by comparison is just down the road from our house - although it doesn't have the striking rainbow of colours that we just experienced at Algonquin Park it is typical of autumn at Keefer Lake.
And this is the comparison between different editions of one photo.
Don't know about you but I prefer last version.^^

I've been reading photographers' discussions on various external flash accessories. These are updated comparisons for 6th edition of my textbook, "Photojournalism: The Professionals' Approach."
For these tests, the subject remained at the same distance from the background, and the flash was located nine feet from the subject. Pictures in the left column were taken inside. Those in the right column were taken outside.
From top to bottom, the Indoor/Outdoor comparisons are for:
Direct Flash
Bouncing the flash off a ceiling
Fong diffuser
Lumiquest
Omnidome
Through a softbox
Off an umbrella
Through an umbrella
Outdoors or in a large ballroom or gymnasium, all the accessories work less well at softening shadows. Inside, light scatters off many surfaces. Outside, the scattered light rays coming from the accessories have few surfaces to bounce off.
Notice, in the outdoor series, that the shadow behind the model is darker in almost each situation.
All accessories are subject to the same laws of physics.

Also, I love the flat-footed fringed gladiator sandals! Now I have a tan and aqua pair!
from left to right: Obitsu, extra small neemo, extra small neemo with Only Hearts Clothes, Small neemo, Licca, Skipper.
The small neemo is a half inch bigger in the hips compared to Licca so pattern adjustments would be need for pants. Also the arms are longer. I love how I can pose the neemo bodies and the joints aren't terribly ugly. Plus the hands can be changed. The feet can bemoved and then the legs will fit inside Barbie boots. The neemo body shown is an older model. The newer model allows great motion of the shoulder. I broke the foot on the extra small because I was being stupid, but one time a foot just broke. I fix them using pipe cleaners. Also I lost one of the shoulder or elbow joint pins. Sometimes the hands need a little bit of sanding to fit into the arms.

So the journey into non-Fairyland dolls begins....
I got this girl some time ago and look what I noticed:
The Frank Sinatra Barbie suit has exactly the same fabric/pattern!
Sue and I have been having some body comparison discussions, so I thought I'd take some pics. Anyone can join in the discussion!
From left:

Licca.
Azone doll.
Factory Blythe with normal body (Lily).
Clone Blythe from AliExpress (yellow hair).
Factory Blythe with articulated body (Azone Pure Neemo) Bebe.
I moved the clone doll down so that her heels were even with the other girls. For some reason she has "high heel" feet like the vintage Barbies. Her body is the same height as the factory body, if you take that into account.
Not a clear pic, but I hope you can see the similarities and differences.
Comparison between my Halo 3 and Halo 4 Warthogs. I like the Halo 3 Warthog moc better, but that's probably because I like the Halo 3 Warthog better.

I took this shot from the top of a double decker bus, and although a reflection on the windshield of the bus is clearly visible, I thought it added to the shot rather than detract.
Ok.. minifee chloe on right is legit, reyon head is legit, the body on the left is a recast from bjdpifa on taobao.
You can see the rest of the photos to see the minor issues I have.. but nothing to really show just how impressed I am with the quality of the dolls I received from bjdpifa.
The bodies are clean, inside and out; they have match FL almost perfectly (must allow for some differences *even* from batch to batch of company dolls).. The feel of the resin and the weight in hand are terrific.
My mnf male body (no pictures yet) has the standard muscular minifee male issues - the slouch and leaning. But that's design, nothing to do with recast.

Here's a little comparison pic I threw together of the two SHIPs I've built so far. The last one wasn't even built for SHIPtember, I finished it a few months after the fact. :/
The Sunset's Dawn is definitely the superior ship, since the old one is basically just an elaborate box. The first one was larger, though, if that means anything.
While waiting to board the three car Trains magazine charter special for a trip over the Bellows Falls Subdivision I captured this meet contrasting two generations of motive power. Pulling down the Manchester track leading the overnight turn back home from Whitehall, NY where they interchanged with CPKC's ex Delaware and Hudson is GMTX 2202, an EMD GP38-2 originally blt. May 1972 as Penn Central 7943. Holding the mainline on today's Vermont Railway Northern Subdivision at MP 54.5 beside the modern day Amtrak station is a locomotive 21 years her senior, GMRC 405.
The venerable Alco RS-1 rolled out of the Schenectady plant in November 1951 as one of a half dozen of the model purchased by the erstwhile Rutland where she servd for a decade until the little Class 1 shut down for good in 1961. While her siblings were scattered to the wind she never left her home state being picked up by Nelson Blount (founder of Steamtown) and then remaining with the Green Mountain Railroad in freight service even after Steamtown left in 1983. She has been a constant presence on her home rails for 73 years and still occasionally is called up to freight duty, though now largely enjoys an easier life on excursion and passenger duty such as this.
As for the railroad, this line traces its history back to 1849 when the Rutland Railroad's mainline from Bellows Falls on the Connecticut River to Burlington opened by way of its namesake community. Four years later the the line south to Bennington and a connection with the Troy and Boston (later Boston and Maine) at White Creek was completed. Meanwhile in 1850 a through route to the west had begun operation providing a connection to Saratoga Springs that ultimately would become part of the D&H. Amazingly, approaching two centuries later and seemingly against all odds, all four lines survive as core VRS routes. Despite losing its once large yard and shop complex Rutland remains the hub of the railroad's freight operations with daily road jobs and locals working in all directions. However, today's VRS maintains their corporate offices and main shop facilities at the far north end of the system in Vermont's largest city.

Here’s some comparison photos of the new Curvy MTM body next to some other dolls. She’s shorter than the Collectors Curvy body and is closer to the Fashionista Curvy but her limbs are slightly thicker.
She has almost the same poseability as an Original MTM body but due to her thicker body type it ALMOST does the same things anyway. Her ankles are as floppy as original MTM so bleh.
Surprisingly her wrists are compatible with Original MTM, which means it’s compatible with older jointed Barbie dolls with vinyl arms AND DC Super Hero Girl hands.
Her ankles though are completely different so if you were hoping to give her smaller feet you’ll need to mod the doll a lot.
Her skin tone is ALMOST Tropic Tan/Nikki but it’s slightly too pink and light. Still darker than other Caucasian skin tones though.
So, the Carol Ferris doll has got a new body, which is why I pulled out Barbies with different body types to compare her to them. And while I was at it, I thought more people might be interested in that. So, here are the inevitable comparison shots. ;)
This is a quick size comparison pic.
