News Zealand Railways DC class locos 4029/4726 are stabled with a ballast train at National Park Station during May 1986.
Built for the NZR by GM as the DA class (G12) between 1961-1968, most were rebuilt as the DC class (G22AR) by Clyde Engineering at Rosewater , South Australia in the late 70s/early 80s. Still carrying its original rebuild number 1553 on the nose, 4029 would have been one of the earliest rebuilds. It was originally DA1533.

DB Class 143.0 (ex-DR Class 243) LEW 15k v ac 4,985 hp Bo-Bo No.143 326-7 at Dresden Hbf., 9 October 2021.
66 002 passes the 259½ milepost as it enters the cutting where Ais Gill Summit at 1167ft above sea level is. The loco is working 6S00 the 17.05 Clitheroe Cement Works to Mossend Down Yard.
From one of Nick's many unmarked prints and slides. Cheers mate ! This is probably 1977 as he seems to have a few Southern Railway signal box photos around Wimbledon and Richmond from that year. This looks like it's taken from a train between Clapham Junction and Queenstown Road Battersea from my hazy memory. I can't ID the loco as I'm rather hamstrung with IT failures at the moment so have limited enhancing and lack of magnification. Hopefully top loco detective Steve Thomas will be a great help with a lot of Nick's unmarked photos. I'm currently managing to use an Epson App to scan photos on my smartphone then upload to Flickr. Not ideal but at least I can get some photos up and running with the Slidefest hopefully to come soon.

I can't believe it was just over forty years ago when I was working at Waterloo, and took a lunchtime trip to Clapham Junction to travel on one of the brand new British Rail class 455 units in the then standard blue and grey livery.
Now in the twilight of their years, South Western Railway unit 455 568 has emerged in a retro version of that livery, albeit with full grey doors to meet modern requirements.
Here the latest 'celebrity' unit sits at the buffers in platform 3 at Waterloo, having arrived with the 05.25 service from Guildford via Epsom. Internally the unit is the same as all other 455s, but the external colours provide a blast back to the 1980s when I first saw these units enter public service on the former Central and South Western Divisions of the old Southern Region.
Class is currently not in session as the Geometry train lays over at the fuel pad in GR. It will head east the next morning to do more math. CSXT GP40WH #9969.
