~Little Bogie Kenner Blythe only appeared nervous, as she took her place in line at the assembly ... knowing she would not be chosen for the Homecoming Queen, or even the Court that year.
She knew she stood out from the cookie-cutter-cut-out crowd, and in fact, she had even heard grapevine rumblings that some considered her ... well ... a bit
"unusual" ...
But she also knew, as sure as a girl with a large head, four sets of eyes, and a pull-ring adorning the back of her head ... that deep down she was way before her time.
All she had to do was keep being herself, resist all temptation to become a "Barbie" ... and that no matter how many years may transpire ...
she really needed to WAIT ... to TRUST in the ultimate wisdom and timing of the Universe to be JUST RIGHT ... and it would be her turn to SHINE !!

DAY 15: "SHE'S SO UNUSUAL"

The Knox-class frigate USS Vreeland (FF-1068) is approaching the USS Mount Baker (AE-34) for a replenishment at sea. Seen operating in the Eastern Mediterranean as part of the US Sixth Fleet in the summer of 1982.
The 4,260-ton full load Knox-class were designed as anti-submarine frigates and 46 were built, starting in 1965. The last was decommissioned from US service in 1994. They were 133.5m long, with a beam of 14.25m and a draught of 7.6m. Two 1,200 psi boilers provided steam for a Westinghouse geared turbine on a single shaft, producing 35,000 shp and a top speed of 27 kt.
She is seen after modifications, having the so-called 'hurricane bow' which was designed to help reduce heavy seas coming in and damaging the weapon systems forward of the bridge.
The ships' primary armament was the eight-round Mk 112 ASROC launcher seen just in front of the bridge. One full reload for the launcher was available. In front of the ASROC launcher is a standard (for the time) single-barrel 5-inch/54-calibre Mk 42 gun. The ship also carried four fixed torpedo tubes for 324mm Mk 46 anti-submarine torpedoes.
On the stern, Vreeland had been upgraded with a Mk 25 eight-cell Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile launcher. Just forward of that was a hangar and flight-deck for a Kaman SH-2 Sea Sprite LAMPS 1 helicopter.
Vreeland was launched in 1969 and stricken from the US Navy in 1992, going on to serve the Greek Navy for a further seven years.
Scanned from a slide, this is a much-improved version of an image posted many years ago.

A fantasy of mine. I would love to attend one of my high school class reunions as my Jill self. Having one of the guys from my class ask me out would make it a perfect night.

The humble DMU, much malaigned when I was a kid with names such as Bog Units, Boggo's and even Fart Carts due to the exhaust rasp! gained a following due to their longevity lasting well into the sprinter era.
Earlier casualties were the Class 127 who lost their work in the 80's due to the Bed-Pan electrification.
Not long before the switchover, which was delayed due to a dispute, Class 127 51618/59608/59631 and 51591 4 car arrives into Bedford from the sidings before heading to St Pancras. 21st June 1983.
The Lead vehicle is now preserved at the Llangollen Railway.

Train 6L12, the 11.08 from Acton Yard, is timed to sit on the Down North London Relief Line to allow other eastbound traffic to pass, prior to continuing it's journey to Bow Yard near Stratford.
After trials with various Bus bodies on a 4 wheeled chassis the pre-production run was a number of 20 leyland Bus bodies which lacked every esthetic known to man.
Narrow, being bus bodied width and a safety screen version of the front which leant itself to the 142's eventually, they were not a design marvel. Also a set of jumpers which appeared to be stuck on did not help!
141013 is seen at Doncaster with a train to Leeds. The livery was a varient of that carried by the local buses in West Yorkshire.

A class 120 hybrid dmu is approaching Water Orton with the 07.33 Lincoln to Birmingham New Street service. The wind-less day had a post-snow mist and Hams Hall power station is only seen as a delicate outline against the grey sky.
Both the power station and the DMU are now long gone.

Class 66 66953 with 4L89 2240 Coatbridge F.L.T. to Felixstowe North F.L.T. Seen at Ingatestone Station.
She's a bit long and a bit tall for a proper Class A. Maybe it's a weird future version where the Climax didn't die out and became more of a mainline loco. I've always preferred the "Shanty on a Shingle" look of the Class A's to the more polished later versions.
Powered using Tenka Circuit cubes (battery hidden in water tank) with relatively accurate drive line. No slip joints, just happened to get the exact driveline lengths where the slop in the universals allows the engine around turns without binding.
Very much inspired by BVLC on youtube.https://www.youtube.com/user/tbdanny
Class 66 in EWS Livery.
Controlled by an ESP32 which connects to a Lego PU remote. The ESP32 controls the lights motor and sound based.
It is powered by a 3S Lipo and 2 PF L motors drive the MS Disc wheels with a 20:12 drive ratio.
The LEDs are from Light My Bricks and automatically change based on direction of travel.
The engine sound is relative to motor speed and it has a two tone horn! There are 2 speakers mounted in the fuel tank.
Decals are O gauge from Fox Transfers.
