On paper an absolutely fantastic location. Being right beside a busy junction of the M25 and A12, so much long-distance traffic passes it whilst so many locals sit a mere stonesthrow from its doors. It also has the added bonus of a neighbouring petrol station. Boost!
Kelly's Kitchen thought so and, in the 1980s, they set up camp and built this restaurant in their distinctive style. Whether it ever opened or whether Little Chef got their hands on it before Kelly's managed to open is unclear but Little Chef were in by 1990/91. It traded happily until around 2004/5 when Little Chef's then owners Permira put the brand, and around 130 of their restaurants, up for sale and this was one of the casualties. Happily though, it lives on as Mizu, resplendent in its Kelly's getup. Huzzah!

White was chosen for the chef's coat since it is symbolic of cleanliness which is something we look for in a kitchen.
Since cooking is a messy business, the double-breasted style of the chef's coat serves an important purpose. It makes the garment reversible so that stains are not visible. The fabric choice of cotton is also quite easily explained. This fabric makes the coat more breatheable and more comfortable. Also, the white color can be bleached to wash out difficult stains.
In more eclectic restaurants chefs may exert their personal style by wearing a decorated coat. Some chef’s coats now have food inspired prints, like decorative chili peppers. Some even wear black chef's coats. In more traditional restaurants, however, especially traditional French restaurants, the white chef’s coat still reigns supreme and is considered part of a dignified uniform, as well as a practical garment in the kitchen.

The dulce de leche caramel filled pastries were too good to resist, but we were too full to have them there. That is why takeaways are your friend!
We had the delectable pastries after dinner. The shortcrust was flaky and went well with the sweet dulce de leche. The choux pastry cone seemed a bit rich for the filling.
