CSX 6033 & 4212 lead train R-353 on the P&LE at Koppel, PA on 3/23/1991. The track on the far right was the branch up to Koppel Steel that had a switchback in order to get up to where the plant is. The branch is gone now.
CSX 7017 leads an Eastbound at CP-29 in Beaver Falls, PA on September 15, 1992. A pair of GP30m's are leading a Westbound that is holding for some Eastbounds before continuing on to a crew change at New Castle.
CSX 250 trails 2026 at Blasdell, NY on August 8, 2026. I made the 70 mile drive over to Buffalo in hopes of getting some better photos of the pair than what I got when they went through a few weeks ago. Since they would be stopping I figured I could get some detail pics of the various parts of the units. They stopped for the crew change at Broadway, which is totally cluttered so it did not work as planned. I still did O.K. considering I got them in the wide open here, although they were moving fast.
Catching a CSX SD70MAC on the point of of a UP train was probably rarer than catching a heritage unit on the point. I’ll take it either way.
Big curve at Krieder earlier this AM. Like Grumpy will say, needs some selective tree trimming here to make this shot better.
CSX K649 passes under the CP/Auto 431 signal bridge with the Erie Heritage unit leading. This would be my last shot before the new signal bridge was fully put up.
CSX M567 prepares to pickup at Bellman's Yard. Train is viewed across the Overpeck Creek at Ridgefield Park, NJ
A loaded CSX coal train powers Southbound over the old Western & Atlantic Subdivision, seen here approaching Emerson, GA. Note the power on this train, a CSX AC6000CW still in it's YN2 paint, along with a CSX AC4400CW also still in YN2 paint. I wish they'd leave this paint scheme alone, especially on the AC6000CW!
The 2017 Santa Train waits for the Saturday morning departure from Shelby Yard. Thanks to CSX for allowing a few of us to have a night photo session here.
An eastbound CSX manifest departs Willard Yard on a gorgeous fall day in October 2003.
Alot of people hated these lease units back then, but I always thought they were pretty neat as they were clean and at least had a real paint scheme IMHO.

On Monday afternoon 11/8/21, I found both the eastbound Q316 and westbound Q317 freights in Parkersburg at the the same time. True to recent CSX form, they were both long enough to hang out their respective ends of the yard. Q317 shown here climbing up to the trestle over the Little Kanawha River was due to leave first.
I wasn't familiar with this overview and was planning to just take an average view from ground level. In looking around I saw a bench up on the hill and realized the top of the hill is a park. Railroad history is intertwined with the park. In the Civil War Fort Boreman was built to protect the important B&O railroad along the south side of the Ohio River. The fort was abandoned after the war after never firing guns in anger.
The track to the left is the BIP's interchange to CSX's Lower Yard.
CSX Grain train G053 heads east under the South Buffalo Railway bridge and 3 Automatic signal at Tifft.
After dropping off just one lone car at Corbin, CSX C705-18 brings 18 loaded coal hoppers through the signals at Dortha as it heads back to Winchester
