Watch the video I shot of this train here:
Lots of buzz going on during the day as folks tried to keep up with the P001-08 as it flew up the CE&D then west on the STL Line. A well timed OS gave me enough time to fly over HN Cabin in Washington Park.
HN Cabin is a former B&O facility reported to be the office for the local CSX police. The B&O Illinois Sub is the single track on the right and recently OWLS crossings were installed between it and the double track A&S.

A CSX West Olive coal train turns the corner toward Grand Rapids in Plymouth, Michigan with a much improved yellow nose scheme. I hated the all grey and blue/grey schemes, this was an improvement but far from what could have been considering all the classy schemes that disappeared into Family Lines and CSX. April 1990

CSX 7486 still in nice Conrail Blue leads CSX train Q-135 at SINNS in Port Vue, PA on March 30, 2002. I have scanned a ton of slides the last few weeks from 1997 to early 2000's and figure I may as well start posting a couple pics each day.
A CSX C40 leads an autorack train south through the National Cemetery in Nashville on November 1, 2013. It was most worthwhile spending a couple of hours in the cemetery before flying home that morning. I spent the time between trains walking through the crosses, reading the names, thinking not only of their sacrifice but what all veterans have sacrificed. At the time I had a close perspective on the sacrifices as my son had recently been discharged from the Marines. It's a shame that we don't all get to see firsthand what these men and women give up and go through to serve their country..
This is a reprocessing of a similar shot posted years ago using more modern tools and possibly higher user skills.

CSX 6561 & 6048 in grubby Chessie Cat colors pause in the New Castle yard in Mahoningtown, PA on train Q383 on October 28, 1992. Even rough looking Chessie Cats were a better catch than what plys the CSX rails of today.

Chessie cat GP30m 4200 leads a colrful mix of power on a Westbound that is parked at New Castle Yard in Mahoningtown, PA on January 1, 1994. That 3rd unit, the 6622, became Trudy's favorite CSX engine as she got to run it a little bit one night on the Three Rivers Railway local when it was working at New Castle.

CSX local L784 switches out Packaging Corp of America in Auburndale, FL. We watched them pull empties and spot loads as a bonus catch returning from the Plant City area. The conductor even got a chance to tell off a gate runner. A former C&O GP40-2 was doing the honors.
CSX Freight Train L580 (Atlanta, GA-Chattanooga, TN) motors Northbound on the W&A Sub over the Etowah River between Emerson and Cartersville, GA on June 1, 2013. The power set featured a variety of engine types, including a CSX C40-9W GE (leader), CSX SD40-3 EMR, CN ES44DC GE, and a CSX yard Switcher.

CSX GP30M #4226 looks splendid in clean "Blue Down" paint at Hagerstown on February 21st 1988. Also worth noting C&O #3028 coupled behind which is still wearing it's C&O number and no CSXT markings at a very late date... Ken Lehman photo, JL Sessa collection.
