CSX Track Inspector S.J. Mosley stops to have a closer look at the diamond at 75th St. in Chicago, Illinois on CSX's former B&OCT Blue Island Subdivision. 75th St. was controlled by 75th St. Tower and is where the B&OCT and PRR crossed the Wabash and BRC. All of those lines are still active here except for PRR's former Panhandle, which is abandoned.
A Tier 4 ET44AH leads a string of CSX power, seen here stopped at the Junta Tower signal in Cartersville, GA. The power belongs to Etowah Subdivision freight train CSX Q539-10, and is in the process of backing up to Junta Yard on the W&A Subdivision side to drop off an engine before continuing its run south.

I followed CSX's local from Parma yard down to Clark Ave yard and around Cleveland's Industrial Flats for a good bit of 2/1/2023. Clark Ave was the center of operation in Cleveland for the B&O but now a daily local comes down from Parma, switches customers and goes back. Today they used a mother-slug set because they had a bigger train going up the hill. It's often just one unit. After switching around in Clark Ave, they got the jackknife bridge over the Cuyahoga lowered and went to work Zaclon Chemical which is what they're doing in this view. Zaclon bought a Dupont plant that used to be in this location, Most of it has been torn down and remediated (good thing, it was decrepit). Not a large facility now but they do a good business with tank cars. Part of the Cleveland Cliffs Cleveland Works is in the background. Until today, I wasn't sure that CSX came over to service Zaclon; I thought it might be the Cleveland Work's railway (known as the CROW)
An ES44AH leads the CSX Southbound Coal Train, as it powers up the grade at Emerson, GA passing the updated signals at North Emerson on the CSX W&A Subdivision.
CSX 3407 takes loaded coal train C760 south by the C&O signals standing guard at Dawkins. They would meet loaded train C309 here and the crews would exchange some chatter about the "paparazzi" taking photos of their trains.

A year ago Y32210 traverses the stem of the Downtown Spur, former SAL main to their Miami station, back to reenter the South Florida Rail Corridor (CSX Miami Sub) to return to Hialeah Yard. Currently I am modeling a GP38-3 in HO to possibly run on various layouts, but it can't be 2055 since 2055 has early model radiators. Very cool crew on board.
CSX 6072 and another geep shove a bunch of cars down the branch to the ISS interchange in Mahoningtown, PA on May 22, 1993. I believe that ISS is now called the New Castle Industrial RR?.

CSX 8902 eases CP 644 downhill at Westminster and will soon have a crew change at St Paul for points easy. CSX has ten of these EMD ST70AHs in service and they look great, for a while they were restricted to only in running in Florida but now go all around the system and every once in a while we get to see one on a CP train.
CSX 8249 leads what looks like train R-216 at CP32 in Beaver Falls, PA on January 30, 1993. The Winter of 92-93 was mostly brown stick season with very little snow until the big storm in March. CP32 was nothing more than a DED, and you had to walk or drive the 6 foot about a mile to get back to it.
Due to a barge hitting the bridge at Decatur, AL there were a ton of reroutes across the south with most of them utilizing the Chattanooga and W&A Subs between Nashville and Atlanta. Here's rerouted Memphis to Savannah intermodal I125 (I925 reroute symbol) cruising through north Georgia near Kingston. It sure felt like old times watching a never ending parade of trains.
The CL&W built along Big Creek, a tributary of the Cuyahoga River to get down the hill into Cleveland's industrial valley. Here is the daily L317 local led by a mother/slug set drifting down the hill with cars for customers in the valley. This section is between the Metropark's Brookside Reservation and Interstate 71.
Herzog and CSX crews coordinate dropping off a cut of Herzog hoppers from their train at the WSS of Mitchell, IN on the evening of July 25, 2020. Once the shuffle was completed, the CSX crew will head west on the former B&O as far as their hours of service will let them to Milepost 147ish.
