CSX Train I12607 rolls by the Southbound Cantilever Signals for Control Point Lang in Waycross, Georgia on Tuesday March 7th 2023. This Train is headed for Memphis, Tennessee from Savannah. CM44AC #7247 and ES40DC #5499 are in charge. The track veering off to the right is the 6 mile Pearson Spur which runs due west towards its namesake community where it interchanges with the Saint Marys West Railroad. The spur also serves customers in the Waycross Industrial Park which includes a Biomass Plant owned by Enviva and a massive Railcar Repair Facility owned by GATX. CSX has trackage rights from Jackson, TN to Milan, TN on the old Illiois Central. Here an SD-40-2 departs Iselin yard and heads north on the old GM&O and crosses over its own trackage. This is looking west towards Memphis, TN and the track ends 5 miles west of here was pulled up in 1969 to (Cordova) Memphis. The CSX track heading east was pulled up in 1983, from Jackson to Lexington, TN, which was L&N and before that the NC&StL I always think of the Yellow Jackets 4-8-4, running under this bridge and also the 'City of Memphis", 4-6-2 streamlined passenger train, that ran from Nashville to Memphis in 5 1/2 hours.
CSX road slug 2252 rblt from ICG GP-30 2251 (27905 12/62) nee GM&O 501 @ Vincennes IN 2:16PM EDT 5-22-2012. If this is indeed GM&O 501, it was built with AAR B trucks from trade-in Alco FA's, note that these have been replaced with Blombergs.
