A relic from the past leads CSX loaded coal train T735-22 through downtown Atlanta, GA. This C40-8W has some rust, but it's still getting the job done.
As a patch of dark clouds overtake the morning sun, an empty CSX Grain Train powers through the S curve passing the Lakepoint development at Emerson, GA heading Northbound on the famed Western & Atlantic (W&A) Subdivision. This was the first time I ever saw a grain train with a couple of freight cars in the mix.
A trio of EMD engines (GP40-2, GP38-2, and GP40-3) pull the previous days CSX A703 train (Cartersville to Atlanta manifest/freight train) back to the yard in Cartersville. The train is seen here passing over the high fill at Emerson, GA on the CSX W&A Subdivision.

CSX 6147 still in Chessie Cat paint leads CSX train R138 at the signals at College Station in Beaver Falls, PA on October 23, 1992. Those Chessie colors sure looked nice among the fall foliage.

A pair of BNSF ES44C4 engines power a train load of phosphate covered hopper cars Southbound along the side track of the CSX W&A Subdivision at Emerson, GA on 2/4/2015. The train would stop here and wait for over 6 hours before continuing its run South. BTW this location is now covered with restaurants and a family fun park that's part of the Lakepoint Development.

CSX 6615 in Chessie Cat colors leads train Q-383 at CP SINNS in Port Vue, PA on October 12, 1994. We were at my in-laws home packing up all of my wife's stuff because we were leaving PA and moving to NY on October 14. I ran down to the trakcs a couple times and grabbed a few CSX trains as a last hurrah. We did get back frequently to visit, but I don't recall getting many, if any, Chessie Cats leading trains.

CSX GP30m hangs out at the New Castle Yard in Mahoningtown, PA with a coke train on January 7, 1994. Also making appearances are what were two of the ugliest units on CSX at the time. CSX 6540 was one of the worst looking Chessie painted units on the system, and the 3005 is just plain ugly.
