CSX 3063 & CSX 436 lead a westbound oil can train through downtown Ottumwa, IA. It was a great day for shooting, perfect sun, and temps around 80 in March! 3/16/2015.

The helper returns north to Morley

I was hoping to get the LA&L in the snow after work on Friday January 19, 2024. Alas the road train was not going to run, so since I had taken my camera to work with me I figured I might try for some CSX action in the snow as the CSX main runs right behind where I work. I got a freight with single GEVO's on each end, kicking up the snow but not very exciting. Got an Eastbound Amtrak with a porpoise, again not very exciting. Just as I was ready to head home a headlight appeared in the distance, moving slow. As it got closer, I could tell it was the local, and it swung into the controlled siding heading for the yard. Power was a pair of geeps, and worthy of standing out in the biting cold wind to capture. CSX 6037 & 2613 lead a local at CP367 in Rochester, NY.

CSX Q260 with a pair of CREX 1500s passes underneath the South Buffalo and the former NYC 3 automatic near Tifft.

An ES44AC leads empty coal train N72 under the Intercounty Bridge in Brownsville, as a loaded coal barge travels the Monongahela River. The former MGA freight depot can be seen next to the train. The train is on the BIT (Brownsville Industrial Track) on the Norfolk Southern Loveridge secondary. Though the engines are CSX, it is an NS crew on board.

CSX Q351 heads west by Seneca Yard with a CREX leader.

CSX M216 Pulling out from Marion Yard after dropping some Autoracks

This CSX local train is based out of Lyons, NY. They're westbound here over the wetlands at Montezuma after switching ADM a mile east of here, and Central New York Feeds in Jordan, NY. The consist is usually made up of grain cars and some occasional tankers; this boxcar (CSXT 142681) however is a mystery.

CSX 852, a single engine on train Q261 is putting its autoracks away on the west end of the Connellsville Yard in the middle of a blizzard. Traffic on the rails was noticeably down with some non-priority trains being held in Connellsville due to bad conditions to the southeast in Maryland.

Heading back to Queensgate with an ancient Dash 8 leading. It was a nice surprise.

CSX O72120 shoves on the "Florida Rock Lead" to Vulcan Materials Miami Quarry. The Pride in Service ES44AHs 3194 and 911 make their first as painted appearance on this line. Suburban sprawl had made it to this area, much to the surprise of myself and the friends I chased with. A mile away the turnpike's west side suddenly gained a Topgolf and plenty of retail shopping and dining, and now new warehouses continue popping up evident with the for lease sign in frame and perhaps the cleared lot as well. This area used to be dominantly Australian and Melaleuca forest with mineable limerock.
