Na enkele rustige uren boven op de heuvel bij Oberrüti, werd een paar kilometers verder verkast, vanwege de betere zonnestand.

A last-minute decision with a gap in work led to a quick early winter visit to Algonquin Park. The skies were mostly dark and overcast, and the lighter than expected winter effects (no need for snowshoes in the back country and moderate cold temperatures) likely increased the number of visitors to the park, all of which lowered the likelihood of wildlife encounters and decent images.
But there are always opportunities. Algonquin is an amazing treasure and continues to host an amazing array of creatures. One of my favourite photography challenges is the errant Grosbeak: the dark yellows and black contrast with the white wing feathers, and help make this a tricky bird to photograph.
This is the first of several images I am working on. The absent light had a significant impact on what will turn out well, and a couple of great wildlife encounters - including my first direct contact with a Northern River Otter - likely will have only resulted in images I can keep for myself.

Volgende stop deze dag was omgeving Staphorst. De zon scheen toen nog volop ten tijde van passage van ledig materieel van de DDZ 7650 in Punthorst.
Happy Caturday theme for 4 December 2021 is "Hobbies" (your cat's hobby). Tikki is a fan of new product testing. Here she is enlisting my help in checking out a new item (Kong "Curlz Teaser") picked up at Petco a few days earlier. She has assessed it as both fun and durable - a win. (Product Testing 1 and 2 made a nice collage, also.)
Una parada improvisada aprovechando que llevaba la cámara en el coche, ya que en esa hora punta, sobre las 21h, el trafico es muy denso tanto de salida como de entrada de Madrid.
Voor afgelopen dinsdag werd heel mooi weer voorspeld en dus nam ik weer een dagje verlof om naar lijn 96 te trekken, op dit moment toch echt wel een interessante spoorlijn. Kort na aankomst kreeg ik al meteen de eerste topper van de dag voorgeschoteld met de lege ballasttrein naar Quenast in de ingraving tussen Masnuy St. Pierre en Neufvilles. De groene loc werd ondertussen ingewisseld maar de blauwe mocht gelukkig nog even blijven.
This is Merrivale high up on Dartmoor in Devon. I know its high because I cycled up the steep hills to get there.
