De oudste Sprinter nog in actieve dienst. Na zaterdag 11 december 2021 is het klaar met de inzet van SGMm. Deze foto staat op de voorkant van de Op de Rails van januari 2022.
This week (December 2021) is the final week of operation of the SGMm EMU of NS (Dutch Railways). The first batch (SGM-0) appeared in 1975. Now #2132 is the oldest in operation and comes from the second batch (SGM-1). The first day of operation was November 25th, 1978.
Am Freitag kam eine Vormeldung rein, dass sich die TRI 112 309 mit einem EEX auf dem Weg nach Oldenburg/Scheeßel machen sollte. Da ich die schicke E10 mal wieder fotografieren wollte, stellte ich kurz vor Twistringen mein Stativ auf und wartete fleißig. Hier rollt der Zug hinter dem RE weiter nordwärts die Rollbahn hinauf.

Its name literally means “Our Lady of the Side Gate” in Greek, as its entrance was found in the side gate of the entrance to the Kastro area.
The lovely church of Panagia (Virgin Mary) Paraportiani is among the most photographed churches not only in Mykonos, but in the whole world. It is located at the entrance of Kastro neighbourhood, right by the sea.
The white-washed building is in fact a complex consisting of five chapels divided into two levels. The five churches were not contructed at once, but gradually along centuries. The oldest church is Agios Anargyros, which was built in late 14th century. The other churches were built in the 16th and the 17th century, while there were renovations till 1920. The church of Agios Efstathios is the centre of this complex, surrounded by the churches of Agios Anargyros, Agios Sozon and Agia Anastasia. On top of these four churches, there is the church of Virgin Mary, which looks like a dome.
Panagia Paraportiani is one of the most characteristic images of Mykonos and it cannot go unnoticed thanks to its dazzling white color and its Cycladic plasticity. Virgin Mary was named Paraportiani after “paraporti”, which is a tiny entrance to the castle, while as for its 300 years old miraculous icon.

When reflecting upon how he began his career as a sculptor, Dion realised that the sunbathing lady, Sun Spirit by Frank Miles, was a big influence. Sun Spirit resides permanently at Currumbin Beach, a place Dion loves, where she has become part of the landscape. Reflection is Dion's homage to the work, captured in his unique style and deliberately placed opposite the lady, mimicking her pose. 'Reflection' encourages the viewer to take a seat between the two works and take a moment to reflect upon the differences, similarities, and what influences them.

On a rainy day after a very rainy week in the Blue Mountains, I had an indulgent day off work to shoot waterfalls. I hit 5 different locations that I hadn't shot before and 4 we're grade 3 so a pretty intense day!
Hiking down to Bridal Veil Falls from Solitary Restaurant as the Leura Cascades are still not open after flood damage at least a year ago. The flow was epic but the spray coming off it was also huge. No chance to take a panorama on a tripod with a long exposure so I hoped for the best with a handheld set of 6 vertical shots @ 1/10s and stitch in post without water hitting the filter too much.... and it came out great!
There isn't a lot of space at the base so the perspective leans back somewhat so it doesn't really convey how vertical the flow is straight down.

At sunset, the sun filters through the autumn trees, and the pumpkins, that were not sold for Halloween, are still left on the ground, in Dubois Farm. A beautiful place in Hudson Valley, New York.
Mykonos is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The island has an area of 85.5 square kilometres (33.0 sq mi). There are 10,134 inhabitants according to the 2011 census, most of whom live in the largest town, Mykonos, which lies on the west coast. The town is also known as Chora (i.e. the Town in Greek, following the common practice in Greece when the name of the island itself is the same as the name of the principal town).
Mykonos's nickname is "The Island of the Winds" due to the very strong winds that usually blow on the island.
