The island of Delos, near Mykonos, near the centre of the Cyclades archipelago, is one of the most important mythological, historical, and archaeological sites in Greece. The excavations in the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean; ongoing work takes place under the direction of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades, and many of the artifacts found are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Delos and the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Delos had a position as a holy sanctuary for a millennium before Olympian Greek mythology made it the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. From its Sacred Harbour, the horizon shows the three conical mounds that have identified landscapes sacred to a goddess in other sites: one, retaining its Pre-Greek name Mount Kynthos, is crowned with a sanctuary of Zeus.

It is the seat of the Archbishops of Tours, the metropolitan cathedral of the Tours ecclesiastical province. It was built between 1170 and 1547. At the time construction began, the church was located at the south end of the bridge over the Loire, on the road from Paris to the south-west of France. An Island sanctuary for more than 300 Aldabra tortoises off the coast of Zanzibar. The animals weigh up to 350 lbs. and are from one month to 175 years old.
I posted an image of my first Monarch of the season, and now I am posting one of the last I saw. We spent a lot of time rebuilding gardens in and around our place to make them bird, bee and butterfly friendly, with berries and pollen filled flowers to support these creatures on their travels.

Yes! We had a real winter for a week with temperatures going down to minus 15 degrees Celsius, and even snow! So I had to choose between skating and going out with my cameras.
Since I normally (in non covid years) skate on an semi-indoor track I decided for my cameras and for three consecutive days I went to all sorts of places, and took my drone out of the cupboard.
This scenic castle is castle Amerongen of which I already posted earlier this shot (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/49655247437/). It is close to the 'Utrechtse heuvelrug" ("Utrecht ridge"), a remnant of the last ice age, that you can see on the left.

As we left our cabin at 5:30, we could see the clouds in the west were already showing hints of red. A good sign. A small number of tourists joined us and by the time we got to the part of the Lake Julie has access too, the sky began to turn red.
